Here's a minor mystery (to me)... what are files which end with an FC
extension in multos8? The contents is binary, so it's not Focal source.
I'm guessing some compiled form of Fortran, but I can't find this file
type in any of the manuals. FRTS doesn't like it, either.

Thanks for any clues!

Focal programs, perhaps? Some versions of Focal would save the
program
buffer in a binary format. If so, you should be able to dump it as
packed 6-bit
characters and see some recognizable Focal code in the output.

Is it this file from the multos8 image I have on my site?
http://www.pdp8online.com/pdp8cgi/os8_html/BARON.FC?act=file;fn=images/os8/multos8.rk05;blk=2826,6,0;to=auto

It's Focal 71 which is stored as 6 bit characters as described above. You
can load it with the pfocal.sv in the image.

A lot more are here

I got it from www.pdp8.net, but it's likely the same file.

Thanks! That gives me a starting point.

It's running fine, but only before I fire up multos8. Then the Focal
session never comes up, and the system is basically unusable on the
other terminal as well. Was pfocal ever expected to live in the multos
environment?

Thanks,

I built that multos image from the availble multos source. It has problems
running various things. I don't know if it is something I did wrong or
multos has compatability problems with some programs. pfocal and adventure
don't work. I think I found other things also but don't remember what.
Basic does seem to work ok.

Anybody out their have a copy working with these programs?

www.pdp8.net and www.pdp8online.com are the same site.
