This is the PDP-11/73 processor board.

4 serial lines, one of them presumably the RS-232 console port.

That's a 26-pin connector, if you count correctly. This is the
bus interface to the 8" floppy and hard drive.

This is a Q-bus to Pertec-formatted tape drive controller. It
presumably connected the 9-track drive in the rack.

Each card is one megabyte of parity RAM.

Nice pictures (What process are you using (film->scanner ?)
This is an 11/73 with a few cards missing (They should all be in the
top of the backplane) (BTW you where holding the backplane upside down)
This will be a Q-bus architecture machine.
Your best bet is to find someone local who knows '11s. The machine is
fairly simple, but someone has obviously removed a few cards, including
the disk controller. You should be able to find a suitable disk controller
without too much trouble.
The boxes:
1) The '11
2) either a blank panel, or hard disk drives hide here
3) Cypher F880
4) Floppy drive (May also contain a hrad disk)
The cards:
1) 11/73 CPU board - needs to be in the first slot (Which it is)
2) 3rd party quad SLU (Serial line unit)
3) Floppy controller most likely
4) Tape coupler - this connects to the tape drive
5) Memory - can't tell what size, count the chips, remembering that
you have 9 bits per byte (parity)

Thomas,
The two top boxes are:
1) Netcom RV1123 or RV1173, the primary backplane
2) Netcom HV1123 or HV1173, an expansion backplane
You may have two cards and a cable that connects the two boxes?
If you ever think about junking the expansion box, think about offering
me the front panel, since I have a box without one!
The floppy/harddisk is probably a Data Systems Design DSD 880. If you
ever try to get this working, I have some docs on it. On the other
hand, if you decide to junk it, think about offering me the front panel,
since I have one without. (Someone didn't like front panels!)
As Tim originally said, the memory cards are each 1MB (4x256).
Thanks,
Dave

No, digital camera :-) (Olympus C-800 L)

Oops! :-) Well, it was the only way I could hold it, it's mounted
on a hinge and comes up that way.

Thanks for the info. Someone else told me card 3 was a controller for
a DSD 880, which combines a floppy and hard disk. (I haven't been able
to boot it yet, though)
We'll see.
