sorry if this is a common question, I've just obtained two pdp11 micros,
(not had a chance to have a play with them yet) I would like to know the
pinout for the console serial cable, so I can make a cable up to attach
a PC running a terminal emulator. If it's the 'modern' standard I have a
db25 to db9 adaptor, dunno if this would be any use as there's a 25 pin
cable plugged in already (I imagine it's unlikely)

DEC was much better at adhering to the standards than a PC. (Just as a hint.)

Yep, standard serial port. You might need a null-modem cable.
I have both a VT320 and a PC running a term emulator plugged into
my 11/73. A 25-pin to 9-pin adapter works fine, I've used my Cybiko
pocket computer as a terminal using one.

You might want to investigate the TU-58 emulator, which emulates a
TU-58 serial tape drive on a PC, as a way to get data and programs
into the machine easily, if slowly!
Lots of PDP-11 software available online.

Thanks, I shall have a go at that once I've cleared a space and lugged
it into position!
the two units both have a fixed disk (with a system installed), and the
RX50 removable drives, and I also have at least 4 digital disk wallets
full of software so I should have plenty of things to play with :)
