Hello.
I have found a RL02 disk pack containing an old version of XXDP.
I tried to boot it and it works. After boot procedure it prints:

CHMDLC1 XXDP+ DL MONITOR

I'm not sure if this version is already available online somewhere, or
if it is rare,
so I could make it available as disk dump for somebody taking care of
archiving it (Al Kossow ?)
Is it interesting?

Would say definately. You could use ultrix 11 to read the pack into a
file using dd. then network copy to another machine. I have a tk25 xxdp
tape which I plan to do the same with, though this would probably read
ok on an ordinary 60meg 3m cartridge drive of the period, for example
sun 3 vintage. I say Ultrix 11 because it's probably the most robust of
the early pdp unices (sp) and the networking works with deqna or delqa
and can run ftp / telnet, at least until it locks up.

Have quite a few RL02 and RA60 packs in the loft as well that I would
like to get data from. The ra60 drive went years ago- are there any
working examples left ?. The last remaining rl02 has been in store for
15 years and is of unknown state, though still have an RLV12 to drive it.

The only thing is copyright - what is the position on this, or do Mentec
still own it all, interested or not ?...

Regards,

Chris

Mentec does not own the rights to DEC's PDP-11 diagnostic software, just
RT-11, RSTS, and RSX-11

The version kicking around the Internet is:

CHMDLD0 XXDP+ DL MONITOR

So I'm guessing that your "C1" does precede the "D0" version. I'd
certainly like to see it become available.

Ok. I expect to see somebody offer me a good place online to put it
into.

Follow my contact link; I'd be happy to host it until some more official
repository picks it up.

So, after the delay the dump is ready and complete!
Where to put it?
