I currently need some serious sanity, so I requested a PPN at
PDPPlanet. I logged in yesterday and fooled around.
May have encountered a bug or anonmoly (sp?) but I have
to see if I can reproduce it.

Thank you, Rich. I even GRIPEd :-)))).

Sorry to use up some disk space.

I was really happy to see your request for an account come in. Thanks for
checking us out!

OK, you'll have to tell me how to view GRIPEs! ;-)

> Sorry to use up some disk space.

That's what it's there for. And we're close to debugging the issue that made
us take down the disk emulator, so soon there'll be lots more.

You would have to ask a question I've forgotten how to do :-).

Try

TYPE SYS:GRIPE.TXT

Or is it GRIPES.TXT?

Operational procedures in our lab would print out the file each
day and then delete it from SYS:. Operations kept a listing
of the daily gripes. It was the users' way to communicate
to operators for things that didn't need immediate attention.
This method was used way before email became a mote in the
bit gods' eyes.

OK. You sure don't have much DSKB: space. One crash will fill it up
and then you'll have an interesting life :-).

I tried R HAUNT but couldn't find it on the -10.

<snip>

Goodfucking grief. I have forgotten a lot.

*.cmp[3,3] are the gripes.

so I would guess a batch job:

COPY DDMMYY.TXT=*.CMP[3,3]

would get you a file containing all the gripes.

No wonder your DSKB: is all filled up. YOu have all the tapes restored
to it. <grin> We used 3 RP06s for that kind of stuff.

I think we had three (simultaneously) working RP06s one day in 2004.

Maybe two days.

Damn, does that cause flashbacks.

You know, Rich, I still have that RP06 that you passed up. And the LP05.

C'mon. You want it. You know you want it. So close...

And Rich is one of the few guys with the three phase to drive the silly
thing.

They only cost $33K each in quantities of 10 (330K for the ten) back in
1980.

I wonder if he's found the steering wheel.

Who could have anticipated buying G-sized cigarette lighters for
the price of 4 gallons of milk back then?

No, just memories of a room full of DEC disk drives,

Not me, the price drop boggles my brain.

I remember buying them because the trip for us included the President
and two VPs, rated a DEC helicopter ride out to the Mill for lunch,
another helicopter to Marlboro to meet with LCG and do the deal, and
a flight back to Logan.

At 200 MB each, ten is 2GB, I carry that much on my keychain today.

I think if Rich keeps passing I'm going to have to get it on the long haul to
New York... a KS10, a bunch of RP06 system packs, but no drive...

It was TU45's cause post traumatic stress. That and RP04's. The RP06's
were fine.

I don't remember having much trouble with RP04s in house.
