I have an AT&T P-120 made in 1996 or so.

It has a card that has modem jacks for a 14.4 modem and all the audio
input/output jacks as well since it is the audio card as well.

When the hard drive crashed and I reloaded W98SE, the sound went away.

The computer originally had W95 as the OS.

I have the system restore CD, but I don't want to restore the whole
system. Most of it was garrrrbajjjj. AT&T telephony, online packages,
tours, etc.

Somewhere on the restore CD are the audio drivers, I would think. How
do I find them and make use of them?

Here is the file structure on the CD:

ACC
CSERVE
GENIE
HELP
IMAGE
CDROM
PAN
SON
TOS
DIAGS
DOSFILES
MOUSE
VCOS
MML
MODEM
RR.OEM
SYSTEM
MFLASH
MFLASH
PCC
PRODIGY
PROFILER
QCARDS
QMLITE
REACHOUT
REGISTER
SIDEKICK
TOURGUID
VCOS
WAOL

Then (at the risk of having a very long post) I found the stuff at the
end of this post in VCOS\VCOS.REG. It seems to mention some relevant
items (AT&T Roadrunner DSP card,... lla.drv (a few
times),....unimodem.vxd,....

Am I on the right track here? (What does VCOS stand for?)

Thanks

Mel

Well, Mel, if you read the link I gave you in my reply to your thread
in the microsoft newsgroups (win98.gen_discussion), you would know what
VCOS stands for.

"AT&T's 32xx Roadrunner DSP with VCOS (visual caching OS)"

DSP is "digital signal processor"

Please look for a setup.exe file in the VCOS folder tree. That would
be the likely way to install the ATT RoadRunner combo soundcard/modem
found in those systems.

My god, I'm not the only one still servicing and running such old equipment.
Last year I maxed one of these out and sent it along with three other
machines of equal age to the Philippines. Kids there are still using them
just fine, I'm happy to say.
