How do I add this group to my subscribed to newsgroups? I have not found it
among the 17,000 newsgroups... where is the GW2K news server?

There is a Laptop group, Comp.sys.laptops and I think there is a group
under Gateway's news server, Customernews.gateway.com .

It's not a group. It's a news server. How you add it depends on your news

Well this newsgroup is for all Gateway computers. So you can ask your
questions here.
Gateway also offers a news server with a laptops newgroup.
You can ask your questions there if you have access.
The server is customernews.gateway.com
The groups are,
news://gw.portables
news://gw.portables.software-os
news://gw.portables.pcmcia
