Hi,
Is there a 12v adapter that will allow me to plug
the wife's Dell Laptop XPS m1530 into the car lighter
when on a long trip.

Thank

I use an inverter that plugs into the car lighter and provides 120vac
out the other end. I then plug the XPS power supply into the 120v end
of the inverter. They are not very expensive. Larry

There are, but usually for more than 65 dollars. The reason is
that it has to boost the incoming voltage and also clean up
the cars power.
Get an inverter they're much cheaper.

Yep, both generic and Dell. Inverter works really well and is more
flexible too.

Gill,

Something no one mentioned that I was not sure you may or may not be
aware of...the input power requirements for your XPS. The inverter
output should at least meet the power input requirements for the power
supply for your XPS.

My first inverter I bought was rated at 120 watts that worked well on
an older dell laptop but not the XPS that I have.
