Not sure if anyone's around anymore, but...

Dell Support Assist recommends I install Dell driver

"Dell-Wireless-1801-WiFi-and-Bluetooth-Driver_77TM1_WIN_2023.66.1104.2017
_A03.EXE"
------------------------

If I go to Dell Support, Drivers and Downloads, my laptop is
automatically recognized, and the same driver comes up as recommended.
--------------------------

But, if I enter the driver description in a browser search field (google,
etc), I get:

"This driver is not compatible

This driver is not applicable for 5JQZN72 with Windows 10, 64-bit. Choose
another product to re-enter your product details for this driver or visit
the Product Support page to view all drivers for a different product."

Anyone know why the descrepancy?

TIA.

At the Dell support website, it looks like the
at driver is generally recommended for the Inspiron 5559, but not for
your particular model. I don't know why Support Assist is telling you to
install it. If Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are working OK, I wouldn't bother
installing it.

Hi, Steve,

I always reserch what drivers/updates Support Assist says I need, and so
many times, there's been discrepancies between Support Assist and what
logging on to the Dell site with my service tag tells me what drivers are
needed/compatible with my machine.

I don't have any problems with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, so if it ain't broke,
it doesn't need fixing.

I don't know what Support Assist is good for anymore. Do you have
Support Assist installed? If so, what do you use it for?

Thanks for the reply.

Hi Boris,

Yes, I have SupportAssist installed. I find it a little buggy in the
area of updating itself, which often does not work. However, I find it
more convenient than visiting the Dell Support website, and I use it to
check which drivers are available and if I choose, keep them (and the
BIOS) up to date.
The other components of SupportAssist (Network optimisation, etc, are a
bit pointless and I'm not sure what they do!
