any suggestions on a 3d accel. card for a 4704,1.6hd,56meg of
ram,133mhz. any help would be appreciated.

I have a 4540 3.0 HD, 32 meg, 233 mhz and the only card I could find that
would work in my Compaq is the Diamond 3D Monster. It works great! No
troubles, just plug it in the PCI slot, run the cable to the old monitor port
and let er rip. I hear the Monster 2 is compatible too but no personal
experience on that.

I have a 4526 233MMX where the Diamond-3dfx card fits like a charm
because its not a fullsized card. On our small towers its very
importand to observe that. I would not like to bend on the little
sucker. ;-) The diamond works fine, if you like me have a graphics
card on the board and the original cable want reach down to the
diamond-output. Just go buy yourself an vga-extensioncable that
support 15-pins not 13. Then you have no trouble with your volumeknob
either if you have such. Good Luck.
By the way, i added also an internal Diamond Supra V.90 modem which
also works fine. I just love my Compaq.
