Hello I have a Pressario 2266 hat has Phoenix Bios. I already know that by
pressing F10 or ESC during boot will get me into the setup menu for the
bios, but it seems to be a rather simple setup menu. I do get quite a few
choices..like time/memory/irq settings...but in comparison to alot of
"other" bios it seems to not have near as many features. I was wondering if
there is a hidden advanced setup for this bios that i havent accessed
yet...I hear people talk about changeing things like latency timeings and
cpu features in bios(among manu other things)...never seen those options in
mine...

Well, there is a way. Take a look at http://www.miro.pair.com/tweakbios/
for a way to get deeply inside the BIOS settings.

A word of caution. Don't just go changing things "to see what happens"
unless you are willing to accept that you may make your machine
unusable. Remember, if the BIOS settings are hosed, you can't recover by
simply "booting from a floppy." Best if you understand why a particular
setting is the value it is, and know why you are changing it.

Of course, experimentation is fine -- route to knowledge and all that --
but better if you start out armed with data sheets, timing diagrams, and
perhaps a multi-channel logic analyzer.

On my Armada 6500 (w/ Phoenix Bios), it does seem that a lot of options are
missing compared to my desktop. It seems to be a trait of the Pheonix BIOS.
Come to think of it, I have never seen a motherboard w/ a Pheonix BIOS that
you can buy for a custom built computer. All those manufacturers use AMI or
Award. That may be why.

Ok cool...thanks for the input...yeah..don't think i'll mess with tweak
bios...since the system is running pretty fast as is...was only curious if
phoenix had any other menus..system seems very stables as is...i did have
occasional lockups when i had the cyrix processor...but since i have been
using this AMD, I havent experienced a single problem...it'd be all too easy
to adjust the bios and then be sorry...haha..so many options it is all very
intresting...thanks again.
