Whilst browsing the web I must have knocked against the middle pad on my
Laptop and now the middle button is refusing to work. The Acer website
doesn't seem to support my 7220 and definitely not its touchpad.

Is there a shortcut to re-enable the middle button.

Check the control panel under pointing devices. Probably mouse.
Check the icon in the system tray for optional settings.
If none of the above, try going to Device Manager, and removing the touchpad
driver. Then reboot the machine, and it will discover the touchpad and
install the drivers.
