My Minimag is from the early 90s. It cost somewhere around $19.
Nite-Ize builb & switch cost somewhere around $10-$15 maybe 5 or
so years ago.
CY: Might be one of the old ones with the good threads? I have tried the Opalec conversion ($28 in 2004 or so; OK, butn ot very bright) and the Nite Ize ($6 and about the same as Opalec). The one watt Teralux, I like that.

single AA lights that are brighter for less than $10. The Mini
will sit in a drawer probably until there's an EMP and my LEDs
don't work anymore. Otherwise, I'll probably lube the threads
every 10 years or so and hope I'll never need it.
CY: Wrap in farrady cage, just in case? Cloth wrap, inside a mylar bag from your last computer board? What kind of single AA lights work for you?

I was thinking last night that I may have seen a review on the
Infinity Ultra that said something about running on a lithium for
a month or more. It likely wouldn't be that bright though. I
don't think it's possible to get what I'm looking for right now.
CY: I tried an Infinity light, which is not bright enough to be useful. The ultra might be better.
Sadly, technology is going in the other direction. Brighter with
shorter run-times. A modest long-runner isn't very popular.

runs on a 9v battery for a disgustingly long time. It'll glow for
2 years, or run on low for 160-200 hours. And that's with an
alkaline. Not sure what it'd do with a 9v lithium.
It used to just be a cap that sat on a 9v battery, but it looks
like they "invented" an enclosed casing. That was probably to
make the military happy. Anyways, they're a lot cheaper than they
used to be (I think they were closer to $30 or $40 before).
It comes with different coloured emitters now too, but it doesn't
say if they're NV friendly.
CY: I've also got a load of those 9v cells.
Ah. OK, so there IS a NVG-compatible version, but I'm not
entirely sure if it's available to the public.

Definitely worth a look, since I get a bunch of old 9v batteries
from the smoke detectors every year. This will give them a use.
CY: I've toyed with the idea of make a 9v battery clip rig, to put two cells in series. Use that to dump the charge into a 12 volt lead acid cell. I finally decided it was too much bother for the 10 mW or so I'd save.
