Surrealism is not an aesthetic "style" but a complex approach to matters of
the imagination, and an active enemy of oppression.

What - in your opinion - is surrealism, and what specific elements in either
your creation of this drawing or in its being are you willing to put forth
as examples of surrealist activity?

I also found myself asking the same thing that Dale has asked upon viewing
your work. Just what is it you find surreal for example, about a can of
coke, or a dog lying down, and why is an image (as over-exposed as it is) of
a woman with large breasts and a limb missing surreal? I found that image
somewhat insipid and stale.

I do like your umbrella photo, but again, why do you think your work is
surreal? I would be interested in hearing about your processes and so on...
what takes place inside you when you are creating these things. What is
happening in the larger picture? Ahh questions, questions...

Kristina.

Kotex promise to keep you dry dear... no need for your sopppy wetness
problems here.
If that fails, see your GP in your local area ASAP. Leakage of the brain is
a serious issue, and you should not take your condition lightly.

I figure the guy has 25 and 1/4 Vienna Sausages stuffed in his lips
while dancing to Louie Louie and reading Attack of the dinosaurs while
he made his pictures . Thats why it is surreal . The finished product
did not matter .

The finished product doesn't matter, you are right. But why he considers
his work surreal would be interesting to know... there are too many insipid
little hogs calling what they do "surreal" for the sake of... does it make
it so though? I don't know, maybe Jean Luc Picard does. Flippant?
certainly. One gets somewhat tired of this subject, but I am that way
inclined that I can't let everything everyone says go unchallenged ALWAYS!
One seeks further explorations and answers. Anyway, it may just be that
Peter Turner doesn't feel like taslking about this... so what? Exactly, it
is of no importance at the end of the day.

Kristina.

Then he should have said "I live a surrealist lifestyle and create bad
artwork in spite of my sausage-loaded labia."

A little honesty clears the air...
