Not quite, and not that I don't think it's probably the most important
thing to do, to write today in a Surrealist manner. But, sometmes I
can't help but wonder, are the Surrealist-influenced people today really
like the Surrealists of old, who would become communists because they
cared so much about the struggle of the individual. So much of today's
vibe is a bland hedonism based on a lifetime in front of the television......
Do such people derserve a spot in a Surrealist lineage? Cheap decadence
has nothing to do with the arcane spirituality of Breton or the Marxism
of Tzara!

Ask yourself this question.If Breton or Dali were of this era,what tool whould
they use to thier greatest advantage.
We are creatures of comfort,every advancement in technology, music and the arts
serves the ultimate purpose of comfort.We struggle for comfort
so that we aren't deprived or appear to be deprived.
Sometimes self-destructing just to prove that it is all too good to be true.
The surrealist of old, are products of a different era.Times have
changed.Modern Surrealist have modern ideas and technology at thier disposal.
I might be a little bit jaded against marxism,seeing how it became a tool to
exploit a working class people,who worked for the comfort of an elite few.

Surrealistic thought has nothing to do with politics per se. It reacts
to it. It tries to depict it. But it is only a camera of the artist
who is witnessing those politics and times. Communism no longer exists
(?), but Surrealism can. Politics. A sun set. Both can be the
subject. Look at the evening sky and you will see the colors of
Surrealism. Surrealism is a shadow, a meal, a thought. Surrealism
knows no bounds except those perceived.

In article <199806031352...@ladder01.news.aol.com>, Starsaint
<star...@aol.com> says stuff.

Alpha:
======
In the old days there were sabre-toothed tigers. They were pretty cool.
Water spontaneously froze near them, but over millions of years the
angels of "D" sandpapered down their teeth and shrunk them with a magic
shrinking device, culled from the ranks of practicality. Wheras any
sabre-toothed tiger would sabre-tooth a modern tiger pretty heavy, the
multifeline 20th C. tiger gets more chances to exist today, because it
has a busy "stripe" lifestyle and can exchange emails with tigers on the
other side of the world in seconds.

Beta:
=====
Marxism has never been consistent with the lucid disciplines of our
paranoid symbolism. Economics man says "The world is real. It is made of
atoms. Society is what mind is for." Soul Dream man/woman says "The
world is a weird sea of possibilities, space, time and perception.
Society is absurd and the individual mind is an end in itself." Learn
from the vibes of the spheres, beyond human art. Invite numbers to the
dance. Bring Escher and Carroll before you let Marx gatecrash.

Gamma:
======
Numbers man/woman says "Look, here's a bit of the universe. Here's
another bit. They fit together like this." Mind Painting man/woman says
"Here's my bit." Everyone involved was happy except Politics boy and
God-Loves-Me-More-Than-You-So-There man. They organised petitions. We
all went for a beer, cause hedonism in a life full of hidden meanings is
like the chocolate chips in the mint ice cream of existentialism.
