But you may not want to wait until next Xmas. I just got one of the
chemical packs and it really works. I used it for the first time a
couple of days ago. It feels a little weird, searching for the button
under a wetsuit, so I tried it onshore, just before entering the
water. I hit it OK, so next time, I'll wait until I've been in the
water a while. After 45 minutes, it felt like my back was still at
least 75 degrees, and this was bodysurfing (fully immersed) in 56
degree water. I'm sold on it. It definitely kept my core warmer than
without. The one big downside is you have to boil it between uses to
reactivate it (ie, turn it back from crystal to liquid.) I think the
next product should be inserts to put inside booties to keep your feet
warm.
