After the bus drivers strap my wheelchair in place, there is at least a foot
and a half of slack in the straps, i.e., I can turn the power on and move
18" forward. The straps then stop the chair. They say that this how they
are supposed to be put on . Unless I have forgotten how this works, they
are wrong.

On a few occasions the drivers have had to brake quickly and I have slid
forward 18". They tell me that I must not have the brakes on. When the
power is off the chair wheels will not turn, i.e., the brakes are on. The
tread does not appear to be worn

Does this ever happen to you? I'm told that this usually due to friction.
