Invacare prices are way too steep. We've got a keypad that's lost its
skin. And the brakes on one side seem worn out.
Looking for advice on out-of-channel repair options, hopefully based
on (positive) experience...
Thanks.
We're not in dire financial straights, and the controller works, but
its skin/buttons are gone. $2500 (to replace the whole thing) is too
much since it does work. Looking for a fair deal on repair or
rebuilding. Or an alternate controller with a less elaborate set of
features.

IF it's a MK 5 (or MK 6) SPJ+ controller, the keyboard overlay kit is
$61.61 Retail Price from Invacare. There's absolutely NO need to replace
the entire controller system if it works otherwise.

Give me a call at Access To Independence 330-296-8111 Wednesday or
Friday between 11:00 and 5:00 EST. Have your serial number handy.* I'll
make sure you can get the right part. If necessary, I can get it drop
shipped directly to you.
Heck, that entire joystick is only $435.00 retail.
*probably located on the front side frame on the right. It'll be 2

Wayne,
I've been expecting your call at ATI, but so far no joy.
Wassup?
John
There's been some confusion so far. Paul's got some issue with one of
the brakes too, and Larry & Paul haven't really got a clear idea of
what's going on there. Larry told Paul that the entire motor assembly
need to be replaced to fix a brake? Hard to believe - unless it's
around rebuilt components, etc.
The three "problems":
1. Controller skin
2. Dead brake on one side
3. Armrest vinyl is shot (obviously minor issue)
Paul's still using this thing but's making headway to get up & out on
a walker. So goal one is to get it right, goal two is to get it passed
on to someone somewhere who needs it a lot more.
Would you think that a small local car detailing shop would be a good
way to get the nooks & crannies of this thing shined up?

OK, I'll be in tomorrow 11-5. Let's try again. The message might just
have got lost in the shuffle.
