Seriously though, I am starting to have some concerns about the pain I
have. It is ALWAYS the right testicle that is implicated and as fate
would have it, it's the one who likes to hang a bit higher than the
other! Sometimes, it rides so high in the scrotum that it almost
disappears. If I try to coax it back down, there is pain!
Most times, the pain is just a dull ache (I don't think I've EVER paid
as much attention to my testicles as I have since this procedure!) and
is "bearable"...but it seems as though every two to three months, I go
through a more intense painful bout that lasts about a month.
Is this normal?
During the typical "bout"...my rightie will become as hard as a walnut
(off and on throughout the day). The epidydimis (sp?) near the bottom
end will get very sensitive and then the whole thing gets
pear-shaped....almost pointed!
It's not a very pleasant sight to behold, but as I said...maybe it
always did this and I've never noticed or looked at it before.
The pain and shape issues are worse after sex, particularily if there
are a few episodes, close together.
Riding motorcycle is quite an experience as well! With my wife on the
back, I am forced to lean forward a bit and the seat presses against
the scrot. This is more or less a GUARANTEE that I am going to be in
pain for a few days!
Lately, the pain seems to be wreaking some havoc with erections as
well. Any sort of twinge will cause me to go as limp as a windsock
within seconds. My wife has to be so careful....
There is also some degree of pain near the top of the scrotum, where
all the plumbing goes into the body cavity. It's almost as if the
clip(s) (or something else) is rubbing along the channel and
aggravating the whole works!
There is absolutely NO PAIN in the left side at all...it is wonderful
and I wish I could be symmetrical!
Does any of this sound "normal"? I should also note that it has been a
few days more than 1 year since my operation....and there have been
more days with pain than without!
Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Are granulomas something that I will have to deal with forever?
My procedure was CLOSED-ENDED specifically to avoid (his words) the
problem of granulomas occurring, which makes sense to me...but I'm no
doctor!

I'd agree with that.
But painful bollocks after a year doesn't sound right to me. I had pain
after a couple of months and the quack told me to take ibuprofen every
day. I did and the pain went away shortly after.
Go and see the urologist and slap him about a bit. In fact kick him in
the bollocks so he knows how you feel.

But the catch is, he couldn't say for certain whether this would stop
the pain, and he said there was a slim chance it would make pain worse.
And after ending up in that 1 in 1000 group that has post vasectomy
pain, I pay real close attn to "slim chances."
I'm trying to hold out for one more yr, hoping time will fix it. If it
gets worse, I may do the surgery. I've also read here and there that
an open ended vasectomy may help.
Basically, when I get fed up with the pain, I'll do the surgery.
Good luck, Alfredo

I will book an appointment to see the Uro tomorrow, but I don't think
I'll be seeing him for at LEAST another month; those specialists are
always booked solid! And chances are that by the time I see him, there
won't be any pain and I'll be sitting there like a fool!
Nonetheless, I will relay my experience to him. There MUST BE something
that isn't quite right down there...I can't understand why I would be
(relatively) pain-free for weeks on end, then suddenly develop pain
that lasts for weeks...and go through this cycle on and on!
