Where are you located Anita? If in the Balto DC metro area Dr. Brad D.
Lerner is a fertility doctor. Probably the best in the area.

My partner found his UR through a friend who's father is a urologist
in our area. There aren't that many specialists available who do this
procedure so understandably you want to get the best you can. If you
let people on this group know where you live we can suggest docs we
have had good and bad experiences with.
You can also search one of the medical societies, the American Society
of Reproductive Medicine offers links to several, the Society of
Reproductive Surgeons or Society for Male Reproduction and Urology
both list URs.
Thanks for the input, we live in the SouthCentral part of the United States.

I have an appointment to see him on thursday,I've been battling
stones for the last 2 weeks. I'll see if he can recommend someone down
your way.

Thanks for any information you can get. Sorry to hear about the kidney stones.

After a fairly intensive search, we selected Dr. Pohl in Houston (he's
the one with billboards all over the place). I had it done earlier
this week, and while it is obvoiusly too early to know if it worked, I
can comment on the professionalism of him and his staff. One thing
that I can say, is that the recovery, so far, has not been any worse
than the vasectomy six years ago.
His website address is:
Can you say how much it cost?
Sure, it was $7,500, which included all surgical fees, as well as all
fees at the surgery center where he performs his surgeries. The only
other charge was a $75 consultation fee about a month ago. He will
perform the post operation semen exams at no charge, if you are in the
area, otherwise, plan on an additional charge for those wherever you
live.

Alas, no. I myself took the one my doctor referred me to and hoped for the best. On the
days he's in his office the place is rather busy - he does a brisk business. A lot of
people seem to go and see him and his colleague who share the office space. Yeah it was
sore for a while. As I learned, the usual. But if he doesn't work out after the initial
visit, get your GP to suggest another. Oh, and of course I don't mean to be disrespectful
by the term "he". I don't know how easy I'd feel having a woman do it. I don't know why
since countless male doctors have worked on women. Bad bad bad. Maybe I've seen too many
Jerry and Maury episodes.
Anita,
He didn't have any recommendations. He did say to do your homework
before you have a reversal. The possibility of serious complications
are more of a concern with a reversal.
You never did say why you were searching for a reversal doc, if it's
personal then you can tell me to mind my own business and I wouldn't
be offended.
All good medicine,

That's okay that you are asking, I don't mind. My husband is
continuing to have complications post vasectomy, he had bleeding,
swelling, and pain after his surgery was done 7 months ago ( he was
treated with a round of antibiotics post op). And recently he has
confided in me that he has had ongoing pain since the procedure that
has never let up, he has some pain that awakens him out of a sound
sleep (sharp type stabbing pain) on occasion but it seems like most of
his pain is during arousal and ejaculation. He tells me that his
orgasms are half what they used to be and that it just doesn't feel
like it used to. Anyway we have discussed having a reversal he is
still gun shy as he doesn't want to risk another unplanned pg yet I
have agreed to have an IUD implanted. I just wish he would have this
done and soon as it is not fun when someone is complaining of pain
when it should be enjoyable.
Anita
Anita,
I wish you the very best of luck in your search and a resolution.

Hi, Anita. I live in Atlanta. I had a reversal in Jan 2002 after
having 2.5 years of pvp. Dr. Michael Witt, with Reproductive Biology
Associates in Atlanta, was my physician. I found him to be
empathetic, professional, and a surgeon who initially didn't recommend
surgery! He was the 4th urologist I saw in 2 years - and the only one
who seemed to know anything about pvp or who knew anything about
treating it. His practice's website below:

You can find my story (Steve and Lisa) at
www.vasectomy-information.com in the personal stories section.
Your husband probably feels like he's the only one who's ever felt
like this - he's now alone, and there is help.
Let us know if you have questions!
