Want to keep any informed who are interested in my PVPS problems since
there are some new develpoments. The good news is that for the past 29
days I have not had severe pains of the shooting type that can render me
partly disabled. This may be due to the testosterone therapy I took for 5
1/2 months. Blood tests revealed my red cell count was too high so I had a
choice of cutting down or stopping testosterone. I chose to stop as it
takes 3 months off testosterone before any reversal surgery
(vasoepididymostomy in my case) should be attempted according to the
Doctor I am working with. It has been 9 days since I stopped taking
medication. I now can feel the usual discomfort on both sides which isn't
too bad... about a 1 or 2 on the 10 scale. Sex ends with a feeling of
extra discomfort - usually a 3 or 4 that lasts for about 15 minutes but it
can settle down more quickly and sometimes actually resembles what I
remember as good sex.
Bad News: Friday I began the day with a shower and noticed a blood clot
dangeling from my penis. Urination was painfull and so I visited a
doctor. Tests reveal no infection or fever or source of this bleeding.
Doc seems more concerned than me, I have gotten used to problems. He
asked if I can come in for a CAT scan on Monday morning. He gave me a
bottle of READI CAT (barium Sulfate) to drink and I guess I will show up
for another expensive day of visiting the hospital. I am not too
surprised that after taking more medications (volume and variety) in the
past 14 months for vasectomy problems than in all of my previous 58 years
that something has probably gone wrong as a side effect. I was thinking
nearly every time I urinated these past months how wonderful it is that
the elimination function still works perfectally while so much Chaos goes
on near-by. Obviously the docs concern is cancer, blood clots or bleeding
is a good first clue I guess. I never had blood in my urine before.
On the first annaversary of my vasectomy (Sept 6, 2005) I received the
book: If It Works Don't Fix It by: Kevin Hauber. I knew of this book many
months before but from excerpts I had read it sounded too bad to be true.
After one year of misery I decided I might be able to handle such stuff.
I will Just say, Kevin is a Saint - nothing less. I find his book to be
nothing but truth. I have learned from direct experience what he writes
about and it is accurate and well done. If you are considering vasectomy
do yourself a favor and read this book. Think long and hard about
vasectomy boys, after vasectomy your days of long and hard might be
numbered. Nobody is more sad to have to say this than me. I denied as
long as I could that vasectomy is 19th century surgery, promoted in the
20th and now practiced in the 21 century with almost no changes. At
least learn that "open end" is a better risk and more possible to repair.
Insist on an improved method!!! Learn to screen Yourself since Doctors
don't find it profitable to do so. If you ever have any pain connected to
orgasm as I did NEVER consider a closed end proceedure! That is a no
brainer isn't it? There is so much money made treating men like me or
doing reversals for fertility that it is hard to derail this freight train
for something much better and cheaper. Someday humanity will look back on
traditional vasectomy and say, "Wow, what a crude method and what
miserable side effects men suffered!" From my surveys of the public I
find 99% of people have no idea that vasectomy has any complication like
PVPS. The other 1% of the population either has PVPS or a family member or
close friend who does. The medical industry through the year 2003 at
least did a perfect job of keeping PVPS a secret - with the help of men,
by their desire to Not Talk about such things!! My medical expense record
will pass the $8,000 mark on monday with a conservative loss in income of
about $15,000 already and things are not improving yet except that I have
had a one month rest from the worst pains. Obviously my losses will be
in excess of 33,000 if I get relief from vasoepididymostomy in January.
That is my best hope at present unless by some good fortune everything
improves from this day forward without any more surgery. I have learned
to not expect time to be very helpful, I probably should have had reversal
at about 3 months to avoid so much damage and nerve reactions. Luan
Did you really need a vasectomy at your age? I appreciate your
long-winded rants, but your problems sound more related to slow healing
from surgery than from what the surgery was.
Interesting and I wonder what you imagine me to be like. Sex is a very
strange subject when it comes to being unemotional. Let me say: I
don't/didn't need a vasectomy!! What man NEEDS a vasectomy??? For Gods
sake... it is the Female who gets pregnant! It would be my "Girlfriends"
that need some help in this area, do you agree? That said I will inform
you that obviously my Girlfriend(s) were young enough to GET PREGNANT. I
have been married 2 times(1969 - again in 1979) I have 4 grown children,
2 daughters from the first marriage, 2 sons that I was not so able to know
well due to miserable visitation arrangments. I paid all child support
payments. Now get your mind out of the place where you might be judging
me against some moralitity code imbedded in your brain. I have been
involved in total of 13 pregnancies, only 2 of which were planned. The
planned ones ended sadly in miscarriage at 22 weeks and 18 weeks. I am
just telling the truth here, I am tired of the American sex attitude and
the resulting misinformation about sexual health and human sexuality. I
am not ashamed and I do not mean to brag although that is what many might
think I am doing. I have had 55 lovers not counting my marriages. ( I do
not drink, visit bars or smoke) Some of these were older wemen but most
were/are 10 to 20 years younger than me. On average from diaries I
sometimes keep I can quickly determine lovemaking 10 times a week is
average for me, even at age 58. When in Bali with my chinese lover
recently (2003) we were making love 5 times a day, she is (to me) very
beautiful! So far as healing slow goes.... 2 weeks ago I cut my right
thumb with a gasket scraper - 1/2 inch from the tip and 1/2 inch deep.
This is the worst cut I have had in over 20 years. Very little
bleeding... and I taped it up and continued to work. Just now it is
nearly healed and no infection occured. I heal fast. Burned myself with
a welding torch 3 years ago while working inside a machine. The skin fell
off the back of my hand 2 days later like a piece of bacon 2 1/4 inch
diameter. No doctor visit, Got my dentist to call in a perscription for
silver nitrate cream (silvadine I think) and bought $50 worth of bandages.
This severe burn healed perfectally with no antibotics or skin grafts, it
took 3 weeks. Yesterday the nurse who put needles in my veins for the CT
scan I had for the continuing PVPS problems and side effects remarked you
have "GREAT veins" . I have never had a STD and until I got this
vasectomy, almost no medical history. I see past lovers in my small
community (100 people) often and they are my best friends. I have not
kept secret from anyone my PVPS problems and I am sure they also wonder
why I "needed" a vasectomy at "my age" but very few have asked. I have
given one lady my entire story as to why and asked her to have me back at
least for this recovery period as having a lover is quite essential for
knowing how the PVPS is affecting me. Presently she and I are having a
beautiful rekindled rerlationship. She is the lady who had the
miscarriages and she is the most sexy woman I have ever known, she is 50.
Does this help you to know why I shoose vasectomy at such a "late date"? I
feel like I am just getting going on a good day, PVPS I am aware could be
the end of me, hopefully I will recover and pass this biggest mistake of
my life and forget it. What I will not forget is that there were men in
my midst who could have saved me this misery if they were man enough to
simply TALK about sex!

Okay, I think I see what we're dealing with here.
Plonk.
>oh come on Mitch, admit it, you're just jealous... :-)
Only of your Ron Jeremy orgasms.

well, that's history now, it's back to normal. But hey, ten times a
week! Just think you'd be able to get the all clear in two weeks!
And normal is definitely good!
