I have lived with pvp for thirteen years. Two corrective surgeries
have helped (reversal and right sided epididymectomy). However, I
still have constant low grade discomfort, sometimes pain.
Many urologists lack the interest or knowledge to properly deal with
pvp. It is a frustrating exercise to find a doctor and to get
effective treatment. It is unbelieveable to think that prior to
vasectomy many of us are not told of the small possibility of pvp nor
are we told that resolution of pvp is problematic.
I was told by the urologist that did my vasectomy that difficulties
that last beyond six months are not usual with vasectomy. You may have
to take the "wait and see approach" that the medical profession often
suggests. I did not actively seek other urological opinions until that
period was up. The original urologist told me he had no idea what the
problem was. I had four or five subsequent urologists also tell me
they had no idea what the problem was. The first urologist to admit
there was a condition known as pvp and thatI had it was the urologist
that did my epididymectomy two years ago. I see in medical advertising
web sites that more urologists now discuss pvp in their general web
site information on vasectomy. So hopefully the process of getting a
proper diagnosis is improving. Certainly there are many more studies
than when I was researching the conditon in university medical
libraries (at that time there were no web sites devoted to vasectomy).
Often you have to inform yourself as thoroughly as possible and take
your research to your doctor to discuss with him or her.
Hopefully, it is not pvp.
That being said, as in your situation, any physical activity caused my
condition to worsen. Similarily, I could not sleep at night for the
pain and discomfort. It becomes all consuming and pervades your life
to the extent that your quality of life is tremendously affected.
Have you thought of laying off the physical activity a bit. I know
this is easier said than done. I would also research as thoroughly as
possible and take your concerns to a doctor that will listen.... and
will not tell you it is in your head. Persevere.
I really feel for guys going through post vasectomy difficulties. I've
been there. Let's hope your difficulties resolve with a bit of time.
