This is part of the reason we started this group, to give guys like you the
chance to get lots of first hand experiences from a wide variety of people,
and ask them questions.
>So what are the effects beyond being sterilized?
Worry free sex is always a good one, and because both of you aren't worried
there is usually more of it!
>What happens when you ejaculate?
Same as usual - no changes in volume or intensity. For me it's a lot better
than before as we were using condoms, and neither of us liked them very
much, or trusted them either.
>Do your testicles remain the same size?
Exactly - nothing changes.
>I guess I have some worries about being "different" than before...
This is only natural, and those of us that have been done all had the same
worries. You basically need to be happy with your decision to become
sterile, and not be pressured into it. The procedure is simple enough and
also vasectomy is far safer than the pill, condoms or any of those nasty
IUD's etc.

As it is possible one of my posts may be causing you concern about
changes in sensation after vasectomy, I want to clarify that the changes
I experienced only related to the first ejaculation afterward, which
occurred the first night, when I was still swollen. The experience
wasn't bad at all--pretty intense, actually, as I describe in my
"personal story" at the website. But in any case, everything was back
to normal by #2 ejaculation, which occurred when the swelling had gone
down considerably. One characteristic of that first one after was a
greater awareness of sensations "deeper." My theory is that these
sensations derived from contractions along the ejaculatory track (which
goes all the way back to the prostate gland) that always occur during
orgasm, but which normally I was not aware of. I believe right after
the vasectomy, the relative "numbness" of the later sections of the vas
deferens, due to the cuts to it during the vasectomy, caused me to be
more aware of these sensations further "up the line." Afterwards, the
numbness at the cut ends had worn off, and ejaculations resumed feeling
exactly the same as they had before. Now, it is true, since then, I
will occasionally have an orgasm that reminds me of those sensations
from the first post-vasectomy orgasm. I believe this happens because
that first one made me more aware of the possibility of sensations from
those regions. I consider this a plus--it is something extra, not
something less! (Besides, it may all be in my imagination!) Finally ,
to put your mind at rest, the vast majority of my orgasms are exactly
the same now as they were before the vasectomy--except, as David
suggests in his case as well, there are more of them now!
As for testicle size, how they hang, etc., that has remained exactly the
same. So, too, has the amount and force of the ejaculate.
BTW, you should check out our website, which has many "personal stories"
from guys who confirm the bit about no changes in feeling. Also, there
are links to other websites that report the same, based on extensive
medical surveys of men who have had the procedure. Check out especially
"Facts About Vasectomy Safety."
Vasectomy is a great bc choice for those who don't want more (or any)
kids--and who don't associate their sexuality with fertility. If this
describes you, I say, "Go for it!"

I was probably the other one who was commenting on different orgasm
sensations. Like Trifold, this was very soon after the op, and again
like Trifold, I think it's quickly going back to normal (can't be
certain yet - it's early days & more research is definitely needed!).
Wouldn't mind if it didn't go back to the way it did before, as I quite
liked the change, but I think it is.
