I had a VAS (I believe it was what you guys call "close ended" because
clamps were involved) 1 week ago. It was extremely painful, and done at an
Army hospital. I question weather or not a local was involved, but that's
irrelevant at this point, since malpractice cannot be put upon military
doctors in the US.
Anyway, there was no stitches for the incision, and it looks as if the skin
was just folded over. The bleeding stopped after 4 days, followed by about
2 days of what looked like "sleepers" when you rub your eyes in the morning
kinda stuff, and now it seems to have lightly scabbed over with very little
wetness at the wound site.
My testicles are almost always aching. Ice helps. Walking is sometimes
easy enough but usually hurts as each testie hurts after each step
alternating. They're about twice their normal size right now, and have
enlarged since the operation, particularly over the last 2 days or so.
I hear people who have this VAS operation having no problems and go back to
work after like 2 days or something. I went back to the doctor who was
clueless and gave me some Percodan, which made me sick and vomit.
I've used ice almost constantly for about the last 7 days, and have been
eating about 2000 Mg of Tylonol and have finished my Tylonol-3 with Codine
already. No one seems to have an idea why I still hurt or why there's
swelling or pain still.
I've heard rumor that the recovery time will take about 3 weeks sometimes,
depending on the individual. Is what I'm going through normal? There are
no bumps. I certainly do not want to ejaculate as my testies hurt too much.
I have been able to get a monring erection a few times though, which is
hopeful.
Is sperm overpopulating my testies or what? Is there some kind of
infection? Their color is about normal but slightly pink.

Some guys do remain sore as long as a week out or longer. I wore a
jock strap for about 2 weeks and it helped alot. What worries me is
that you say you are still badly swollen. I think if there were
infection, there would be more "weeping" at the incision sites. When
did you go back to see the doc.? If he saw you only a day or two
after, he wouldn't have been alarmed by swelling or pain. But I think
if you really are as swollen as you say a full two weeks after, and
you haven't been doing jumping jacks non-stop, that he would be
surprised if he saw you now. I'd go back to be sure, esp. if things
aren't better in a day or so.

I had my closed-ended vas a month ago and my right nut is still slightly
swollen and at times feel a pain when walking. The left side never really
got as bad and seems almost normal.
I used to feel lumps where the cuts were made possibly blood clots. They
seem to have disappeared now.
Although I don't think I have had the pain as severe as you, I do know that
I am still in recovery mode. Several times I thought of going back to my
doctor but decided to wait it out. If you don't see any improvement in
another week, I'd go back to your doc. But don't expect it all to clear up
overnight.
