Just wondering how you are. You were having considerable post-vasectomy
problems last time we conversed as I was. The good news for me is that 3
months on, I seem to be largely back to normal. Still get the odd
uncomfortable day but apart from that, no problems.
Due to provide my first sample this coming Friday.
Best regards
Dave
Thanks for asking I have been busy I am back in school at 39 to complete my
degree and homework besides life consumes my time. I have been meaning to
post an update.
I posted before that the ultrasound was normal and the Dr still thought I
still had an infections so he kept me on antibiotics. I just went last week
and I am about the same maybe a little better overall. The Dr wants me to
continue the antibiotics for another 8 weeks, yes I said 8 more weeks. Today
is week 20 post vas for me so I am approaching the 6-month mark so I am
getting concerned.
Depending on the week things can vary I still have the following.
Pain and a full pressure feeling in the testicles near the rear 2 or 3 days
a week.
On and off pulling feeling in both testicles (the cord that they hang from).
On and off (still more on then off) ache pains in the testicles.
Pain behind my testicles (Dr thinks this is my prostate).
Uncomfortable to sit at times.
Basically I know I have to balls hanging between my legs 24/7 because in
some way I have some form of pain or discomfort. The Dr thinks (clams no way
to prove or test for) that the original Dr gave me an infection and then
waited 3 weeks to give me antibiotics. That the infection got into my
epidermis and prostate causing delayed healing and pain and complication. He
does not know this for sure and has no way to prove his theory. The
antibiotics did help to a point but I am now stuck and I see no improvement.
The Dr clams that if (that's a big if since we have no proof) I do have an
infection in my prostate from the vas it could take several months to clear
taking antibiotics and could possibly not ever heal and need to be
surgically removed. So it is possible that due to complication of a vas I
may lose my prostate. The problem I have is no one can prove what is the
problem. Even the Dr says it still could be just PVP because my body did not
take well to having a vas or it could be the infection or even something
else. The Dr clams that if my prostate is infected (again that is IF) that
could cause pain in the testicles and the surrounding area.
So I don't know what way to go at this point because I have no conclusive
proof of what the problem is just plain old PVP or complication of an
infection. I have been taking strong antibiotics for over 40 days now and
again in the beginning it did get better (could just be the placebo effect)
but after a few weeks, I feel no more improvement. So I don't want to keep
taking them for no reason but if I stop and it does get worse I will have to
start all over again. But that sure would prove to me that I did have an
infection if I stopped and the pain got worse.
All I know is I love the freedom of the vas and I am glad my wife did not
have to go under to have her tubes tied. But both my wife and I still wish
that we had more information from the start. We both feel that if we knew
all the risks we would have not done this at all we would have just used a
different form of birth control.
So at this point, I guess I am going to take my antibiotics for the next
several weeks and go see the Dr for my next follow up and see what he says
and how I feel. The problem I have now is 90% of my pain is a nuisance and
just annoying the piss out of me. But it is not strong enough for me to jump
at another surgery without exhausting the less evasive option like taking
the antibiotics. Plus if it is simply just an infection in my prostate
causing all my problems more surgery on my testicles will be pointless. That
is what makes me feel the worse I just don't know what the problem is. I
know I don't want to live like this for the rest of my life but I think it
wise if I give it some more time and see before jumping for a surgery that I
may not need, very confusing.
The Dr clams my pain can be cause by an infection has anyone had or know of
information on infections causing:
Pain and a full pressure feeling in the testicles near the rear 2 or 3 days
a week.
On and off pulling feeling in both testicles (the cord that they hang from).
On and off (still more on then off) ache pains in the testicles.
Pain behind my testicles like where you sit on a bicycle seat.
Uncomfortable to sit at times because is puts pressure on the rear of the
testicles.
As for how things are working, they work well at this point. Having sex 95%
of the time does not cause any increase in pain of discomfort and things
work as they always did. So that I am thankful for. The Dr clams that if I
do have a prostate infection flushing it out daily (by having sex) will help
it heal. My wife has been great, she is keeping pace everyday. I don't know
if it is helping but hay it's the doctors orders to have sex daily so who am
I to second guess him.
Thanks Doug
