Pain pain and more pains

I'll make this simple, I am into the 6th month and there has been no time
without some pain since the vasectomy. I clearly could identify 5
different pains since the time I should have recovered from a very easy
NSV procedure. Usually only one persists in normal activity now, the
"dull ache", mostly right side. If this was the only pain or problem, I
would choose to live with it rather than take medicine or go back to the
knife. However, during sex as orgasm begins to approach I have another
pain that likes to block the pleasure. This pain can be very mild and so
light I am not disturbed much by it but that is rare. Usually all
pleasure of the orgasm is blocked and if another orgasm is attempted an
hour later or so the pain is more intense and quite long lasting. Prior
to vasectomy the only pain I ever had in my sex organs came from
infrequent orgasm/ejaculation. If a few days went by without sex I might
have a painful ejaculation or two but each time it would get better and
after a couple active days ( about 4 to 6 ejaculations in 2 or 3 days) the
pain was always cleared. I learned to have enough sex to keep the pain
away and sometimes I would avoid sex if it was only going to be possible
to have one encounter. I have a neighbor who relates this exact same
phenomena and tells his wife he needs more sex to manage his pain. She
likes to tell him he needs less. So I know this is not exclusive to me.
After this vasectomy the situation is reversed. From the very first sex
after the vas I noticed things were different. This ejaculation pain did
not develop for a few weeks but the beautiful orgasmic feeling I was used
to all my life was gone. It was like the light was burned out in the
movie projector-- like watching fireworks at high noon..... like lighting
a firecracker but only the fuse burns. Even if all pains were to vanish I
am now left with an “empty orgasm”. I knew there would be some differences
if not physical for sure mental/psychological . I expected to have to
learn to do without some of my long term fantasies, to edit some of the
scripts, but to have pain block the inspiring sensations was not ever
something I expected to have to deal with. This ejaculation pain has made
masturbation all but impossible and will make sex nearly impossible or
undesirable in a short time more. I am thinking reversal but would like
to keep my sterile status, this has cost me plenty and I want to salvage
my original goal if possible. It would seem an open end conversion could
be the answer. I would like some comments from anyone who has used either
open end conversion or reversal to deal with a situation like this. Even
more someone who has been “here’ and had things change for better or
worse. I am feeling this is not going to improve with more time, it may
change but when I say improve I mean to have back the sex life that I gave
away in September 04

If you had painful ejaculations prior to vasectomy the vasectomy may
have exacerbated your problem but not created it. You should probably
make your urologist aware of this and also consider converting to open
ended. I got an open ended about a month ago and all has been good so
far.
