The doctor says it could be up to a year before it goes away but there is no
way to know. I'd like to know of others' experiences with epididymitis
after vasectomy - mainly, how long yours' took to clear-up.

Thanks

I'm at 11+ months and am almost 100%. I also had an infection it seems (took 6
wks antibiotics total).

Take it easy physically until you feel better (I actually wound up hiring a
gardener). Watch how you sit and lay down. Lots of sex to keep the pipes
clear (really does help).

Dude,
You have made a terrible mistake. I have been in pain of and on for 12
YEARS! SOme was bad some just an ache. Had prostatitis on and off for the
first 4years. Epididymitis for the first year. BUT the last year has been
unbelievable. I have felt like someone feild goaled my balls every minute of
every day. I have been through pain clinic nerve blocks percocet by bucket 9
a day just to stand). Finally I had no choice but to have an Epididymectomy.
This is real surgery man. They cut open your scrotum and take out your
testicle and cut off the Epididymis and put the thing back. Right after that
I developed a post op infection the result of which was a right nut the size
of an orange. I was hospitalized on morphine and AntibioticIV for three
days. Now I still have pain on my left side which still has an epididymis. I
also have pain and a misshapen nut on the right. And it is still almost
twice normal size and it will stay that way. But they will be happy to cut
it off if I want. THIS is no exaggeration and I will scan and send the
pathology report to anyone who doubts it . My epididymis was 10CM long and
4-6 cm wide when removed. This is almost the size of the average flaccid
penis.
I was never told of any of these possibilities. I am now sueing the shit out
of the doctor and hospital. Man get some help NOW DON'T WAIT. My vasectomy
was not as bad as what you describe I was in pain for a week but then ok for
almost a year. Then the shit started. If you write to me I will help you any
way I can. In all fairness to others most guys have little or no problem
with a vasectomy. But some complications like mine can be extreme. I have
not even told you all my problems related to this. But let me close this not
with this. My ONLY option now is a radical orchiotomy. That's when they
remove you testicle and all the cords and nerves attached. They do this
through an incision in your abdomen. Right about where your pain ends.
I am not trying to scare you. But be warned. The doctors will tell you this
is not from your vasectomy. They are either misinformed or LYING. I can
point you to where you can find some proof if you want.
Good luck man.

Hi. My sympathies. My epididymitis (and other pvp-related pain)
lasted over 2.5 years - until I had a reversal....

rbungay,

My reversal took care of my PVP related pain. It is the most probable
fix, to fix something that got 'fixed.'
