The pain near the testis comes and goes (usually more often than not). It
reminds me of when I was a kid and got a filling and after eating some
ice-cream the tooth hurt. Is it possible the metal clamps are causing this?
At 3 months can this be normal? Does anyone know if this might go away or
not?
Still not sterile at 3 months.

Same thing happened to me, but not as quickly. Can't say urination was
much different, but yes the force of ejaculation was less, but 5% loss
can make all the difference. Also, literature is silent on how fluids
from the testes 'stimulate' the prostate.
Reversal helped somewhat. Maybe a lot, was more forceful after some
recovery than before reversal, but less than pre vasectomy, but by
this time some aging had occurred so hard to quantify or even qualify.
My PVP (post vasectomy pain) sounds like yours. Mostly on the left
side, came and went, but was very uncomfortable. Ice helped. reversal
helped a lot, especially after a year post reversal.
Risks are understated, and under reported, and under counseled by
docs.
Ice on the scrotum, use an ice bag. Three times a day for about an 40
minutes to hour, with 10 min on 10 min off. Also use a pain reliever
you are comfortable with. I used aspirin. See your doctor and expect
honest treatment or change doctors. It is not in your head, it is in
your scrotum. It is real and may last a long time.

"Been There, Done That, Still Paying The Price"
Before Trevor and Steve get too caught up in politics to actually discuss
the issue, maybe we should be asking you for some more information first.
> Still not sterile at 3 months.
Firstly, you say you are not sterile at 3 months - this is not abnormal.
Three months is about average, but the thing about averages is they are
comprised of high numbers, low numbers as well as middle numbers. You may be
on the upper limit of what is normal, so don't worry about this. The chances
you remaining ultimately fertile are very very slim. It does take a little
longer in some case.
BTW how many tests has your doctor asked for, and at what interval?
So to take things back to basics, have you been back to your doctor and what
does he say about this? Assuming you have been back to your doctor and are
not happy with what he says, you always have the option of requesting a
referral "Up the tree" to a specialist. You can always get a second opinion,
but I'd go for talking to a specialist in the field.
Trevor suggests you may have a granuloma, and this may be the case. In this
case they tend to dissapear, but it takes up to a year. If you'd like more
information on granulomas or the usual post vasectomy problems, then
download the "safety and effectiveness of vasectomy" document from the links
page of the group website (address below).
However, there are medical diagnostic equipment available at all hospitals
that will tell the doctor/specialist exactly what is going on. It's common
practice to use ultrasound (even in the primative backwoods of UK military
hospitals) to examine exactly what is happening.
I think the suggestions that you need a reversal and that you have incurable
PVP are a bit premature - hang around long enough and you get to know the
regulars.
Please let us know what the doctor says, and ignore all the politics - your
health is what matters.

The pain in the right testie only lasted for about 3 days and went away (?)
I have now an overall, albeit milder soreness in both testis currently, and
it's barely noticeable (but enough). It's weird. Some days I have almost
no pain at all, some days it feels like a toothache. Some days my urination
is strong, some days weaker. I used to be pretty normal and steady before
this operation though. This vas has caused some weird side effects. Ejac
strength and amount is certainly less, as if there's internal pressure or
something. I sometimes suspect a prostate issue, albeit mild. I wouldn't
know if the prostate thing would last as long as 3 months though, on and
off. Really weird.
Doctors are baffled but say these symptoms are not uncommon. I think they
have no idea. Perhaps some granule thing was there, then it got absorbed
somehow. I dunno. I feel better now anyway, just a mild ache in both.
Sometimes I have a soreness in my lower abdomen that lasts for 3 days or so,
then goes away. It's weird.
Thanks for your help,
Mike
