I'm wondering if anyone knows of specialists in the New York City area
who might be willing to deal with this.
I also wonder if there is any type of therapy or action that I might
wisely take now in this early stage, to prevent things from getting
worse.
Thank you,
Garrett
Reversal (and other treatments) didn't work for you - why tell this guy that
reversal *WILL* work for him?

There is no evidence to support this claim, or any reasonable basis to make
assumptions like this.
Garrett, if you are getting no help from the doctor, seek a second opinion.
In any case pvp/ctp or whatever you want to call it doesn't become that
until you have had it for more than three months. I personally don't know of
any specialist in the NY area as I live in England, but someone nearer
might.
I'd also beware of some of the "advice" offered by some of the websites -
often they recommend castration, or praying a lot. Neither of them will
actually help.
What counselling did you recieve before the vasectomy BTW?

Ice, Ice, Ice. It will reduce the swelling and has been shown to help
reduce scarring. I still use ice from time to time.
I had PVP fairly bad. Had Reversal and over a period of about two
years the pain reduced considerably. It takes time for the body to
recover from the blockage and repair the damage that can occur
suddenly or over time.
Those that have not yet suffered will seem to minimize the pain and
confusion you are experiencing. After all everyone told you how simple
it was. That blocking 50,000 sperm per hour would just be a
re-absorption.
Again, right now your body needs to heal. Switch doctors. This doctor
does not seem to be taking seriously the possibility of infection or
that he has caused a trauma to your body that requires more than
Advil.
I suggest ice, ice, ice, laying down so blood can easily flow out.

I'd not heard that ice can reduce scarring. Could you point us to this
information please?

PVP stands for Post-Vasectomy Pain syndrome.
