I had my vas just over 4 weeks ago and I'm still getting aches and pains in
my left testicle pretty constantly. It's bearable, but is exacerbated when
I'm standing up and I'm really starting to get fed up with it.. I know
there's no hard and fast rules here but can these things take enormouse
amounts of time to heal? I seem to have reached a kind of stalemate at the
moment; things just don't seem to be improving. I'm due for ultrasound this
week. Not expecting it to show much.
Many thanks, Dave
How long don't know if any one has an answer for that but lets hope not to
much longer. I am at week 12 today and still have more pain then I ever
bargained for. For example it took maybe 7-8 weeks for my right testicle to
drop down to normal level. Right now I get on and off pains and my testicles
ache 24/7 from the congestion pressure. I just got an appt with a PVP Dr for
this Thursday and I am hoping he has some answers as the Dr that did the vas
does not know why I am still in pain or what to do about it. Remember I am
at 12 weeks and people are telling me to hang in there till at least 6
months before I start to worry.
You may want to keep wearing the jock based on what you are saying.
Good luck it's a long road for some,
Doug

My testicles have a very full feeling (painful) near the back where the
epidermis is. The pressure is caused because I have a closed end vas and the
sperm my testicles are producing has no where to go so it backs up termed
congestion. I am hoping my new Dr has a clue and gives me steroids to slow
down the production. This will first prove that is the problem if the pain
goes away. Second it may give my body more time to adjust and hopefully the
pain will not come back. But worse case I will need to get converted to open
end (wish I knew what I know today before the vas) or last resort have the
whole thing reversed.
I still feel like my body is recovering from the trauma of the surgery. I
think my Dr was rough and did not take the extra steps to be careful. How do
you think your Dr was did you think he or she was rough.
I read on the net that it can take anywhere from a few days to a few years
for guys to recover. I don't know at this point I guess we are all different
and the Dr makes a difference also. For example they can damage nerves that
may never heal right. After you read up on vas you find it is not simple, a
vas alters you and some of us don't adjust well.
You have time before you start to worry, 4 weeks is not bad.

I don't think my doctor was particularly rough although I can't honestly say
because I really didn't feel much during the operation. I do have a
potentially added complication in that I was diagnosed with a varicocele
some 10 years ago. It hasn't been a problem up until the vas but now it may
be contributing to the problem.
If all this is caused by back pressure it makes you wonder why more
vasectomised men don't suffer from it. Will an ultrasound scan show up any
of these abnormalities such as problems with the epididymis?
Thanks again

Whether I have sex everyday or once a week it does not change the pressure
for me. I guess since the testicles are caped off there is no way no matter
what you do for the pressure to get out. The good news for you is it can
take from what I read 12 weeks for the pressure to stop though most men its
very quick like a few days or they never have a problem. Everyone is
different and I guess a few guy need to be at the high production end like
you and me. Pressure is not an abnormality so I don't think it will show up
it's just a result of the vas. What does the varicocele do to you and how
did you know you had it.
