I had my operation at Easter and all went very well.

About a month ago, I started getting quite a dull pain. It wasnt that
specific in terms of site but occassionally i could feel one of the
cut ends and it felt very tender. I went back to the doctor having
convinced myself I had Chronic Vasectomy pain. He couldnt find
anything obviously wrong and the pain started to subside. Within 48
hours it had gone totally. Everything went back to normal

It started again yesterday afternoon. It is unpleasant but not
debillitating.
Is this normal and something I am just going to have to live with from
time to time?

Phenian,

Was the doctor you went back to see a urologist or a general
practitioner? If it was a GP you might consider seeing a urologist.
Also, some urologists seem more experienced with issues arising after a
vasectomy than others so don't be afraid to seek a second opinion
depending on how concerned you are.

Chronic vasectomy pain is rare so the odds are on your side. If you
are concerned you might consider just keeping mental notes or even a
journal on when it seems to happen, what activities you engaged in the
day or two before, how long it lasts, etc. That would also be useful
to show your doctor.

Most doctors will approach things at your stage very conservatively.

Hope you feel better and this happens very seldom.

I had a similar experience for about a year after my vasectomy--as in
your case, only on one side. It seemed to come on after especially
good sex. And it usually faded in the course of the next day. Now
sometimes I get it if I go without ejac. for more than a day or two.
But the cure is simple!

This is excellent advice, not only in this case, but in general. When
I've seen a doctor about problems, I've often been surprised at how
little I remember about these kinds of things!

Just wanted to add you are not alone. I am close to 8 weeks out, and I
still get occasional (pretty much daily) soreness on the right side.
He did have a harder time with that one, as I had an undescended
testicle as an infant. But I went to see him a week ago and he
prescribed "pred" which is a fast acting steroid of some sort, for
inflammation. But it didn't do anything for me. On the plus side it
seems as if the soreness is fading over time. He did say, though, that
if the pain wasn't gone in 2 weeks, to come back and see him again, and
he'd try something else. Which I will be doing! Unfortunately I got
the distinct feeling that he was mystified about the whole thing.
Funny to me, since he is an experienced urologist with many years in
the field (I looked him up online).
