Thanks,

Hi Steve when I had mine done I was a bit bruised but nowt serious...
If it was me I don`t think I would personaly play football...
It would only need a loose ball ( football not the other ) to hit you wrong
or a sloppy tackle (football tackle not your tackle ) and you would be in a
bit of pain..
f you do decide to play let us know if you win :-)......... taz

I'm with taz on this one. Considering soccer is a constant running
game (unlike baseball, which is a spurted running game), I'd be a bit
leery myself.
If you are really serious about playing, maybe you take up a half job
the day before, and make your judgement from that. Rather find out
the day before that all that jiggling ain't comfortable, than to have
to bow out of a game in the middle.

I feel pretty good, but I think I might have exerted myself a bit too much
today, because I'm sore. I can honestly say that I don't think I would
recommend playing soccer four days afterward. I am still "tender", and walk
kind of funny (I might anyway, but even I think I'm walking funny!)... I
can't think of a good reason, other than self-preservation, to break into a
run right now.
My urologist and doctor both recommended 10 days before any sports. I do
have 36 holes of golf booked for day 10, so I hope I get back in shape for
that...
Best of luck, but please take it easy! I am absolutely ecstatic as to how
well my procedure went, and the healing process so far, but no matter how
well it goes, it is still quite a shock to your body (and some VERY
sensitive parts at that!). You will be sore afterward, and the easier you
take things afterward, the quicker you will be back to full strength.

Hi Steve and welcome. This is all good advice except the bit about sexual
activity varies from doctor to doctor. Wild romping is probably out for a
couple of weeks, but a very gentle hand job is probably OK after a few days
as most report.
If you do play sport this soon after, you may burst the stitches or cause
yourself permanent injury. It really isn't worth the risk.
>It all sounds pretty simple, but I am hearing some pretty scary
>stories on the net. What is normal and what are the percentages. I

You do read scary stories on the net. In the USA alone some 500,000 plus
vasectomies are done each year, and it's a similar percentage of population
in what is regarded as "The West" (European and Australasian countries).
That doesn't include the rest of the world. All in all, probably several
million vasectomies are done world-wide every year. If there was a serious
problem I think we would have heard about it by now. The major post
vasectomy problem is spontaneous rejoining of the tubes making you
unexpectedly fertile again. There are various pains some people experience
after a vasectomy. In this group's experience a fair percentage of these can
be dealt with by drugs you can get from your urologist. The thing to bear in
mind re the net is that the many millions of problem free vasectomies are
not searching the net for information to help them, whereas the small
percentage of problem cases very well might be. Therefore the number of prob
lem stories on the net is disproportionate to the number of performed
vasectomies.
If you have a look at our website, on the "Information sites" page, click on
the "Facts about vasectomy safety" link. This will give you more information
about the views of the World Health Organisation's position on vasectomy.
Keep us posted please!

Yep - it's a terrible idea. My procedure was straightforward but I wouldn't
have felt comfortable doing sports for a while. You have pretty well
answered your own question. Look after yourself for as long as is necessary,
and don't do anything daft. Taking it easy pays dividends.
>I have personally never known anyone that had any
>trouble with a vasectomy.
The reason behind this is that the procedure is reliable and generally
problem free, especially in the hands of an experienced surgeon.

Welcome to the group.
When I had mine done, my doctor told not to do any running or sports
for at least 3 weeks, and then only if there was no pain. I can't
imagine playing soccer four days after my vasectomy.
There will always be another game. What's the point of risking additional
injury?
Take care
