Hubby had the vasectomy on Friday, and one hell of a hard time sleeping
last night. We came home and put the frozen peas on for the first 2 hours,
as the doctor had suggested. He felt pretty good last night, and made a
couple trips up and down the stairs, I told him he was supposed to be
keeping quiet and resting on the couch, but he kept telling me he felt fine.

So come to going to bed last night, and he could not get comfortable at all,
laying on his back hurt, and he kept me awake part of the night with the
complaining and moaning. Is there a comfortable position for him to sleep in
tonight ? Or will tonight be better for him all together ?? He did get up
and take some Advil early this morning and has gone back to bed, and seems
to be getting some better rest now then he did most of the night.

So is there any best position to sleep in or will it just take a few days to
get "back to normal" ??

Thanks
Karen

I slept like a baby after mine. If he's a side sleeper, a pillow
between the legs will keep his taters from getting mashed. Maybe try a
pillow under his knees and I would ice down right before bed to keep
the swelling down. If he's in so much pain that sleeping is an issue he
needs to talk to the doc.
All good medicine,

I am a side sleeper and after almost 6 months I still cannot sleep on my
side without a pillow between my legs. In fact its been just that past month
that sleeping on my side with a pillow has become tolerable for most of the
night. I am glad that vas's work out for most guys for me it's been terrible
and I have to say if I knew what I know today then I would have never had it
done. I still have some level of pain 24/7.

Sorry to hear that, friend. To anyone who's ever had a baby, you know what I mean.
Sleeping like a baby means waking up every two hours screaming.
Still... getting nursed back to sleep isn't all that bad a deal <g>

TELL YOUR HUSBAND TO KEEP OFF THE STAIRS FOR THE ENTIRE WEEKEND!!! I
had mine done the 1st and am just now going back to work BECAUSE I did
to much the first two days after the surgery... AND I NEVER WENT UP ANY
STAIRS. He is going to be in for some serious hurt if he doesn't get a
jock strap on and keep the frozen stuff on it for at least two solid
days. Take 3 - 200mg liquid caps of advil three times a day and never
ever take the jock off except to clean himself and change jocks. To
answer your question, take 600mg of advil one hour before he goes to
bed and sleep on his back. Good luck and keep us posted. (I developed
some large lumps from to much activity that is still hurting a week
later!!! If he developes lumps, don't worry about it, they are caused
from small capillaries that start bleeding inside the scrotum from to
much movement.)

Well he won't sleep on the couch and the bedrooms are upstairs, so he will
have to go up for that, but I don''t think it was necessary the other night
to be walking around as much as he was.
I will make sure he has an advil before bed tonight, he was on his back last
night, but does prefer to sleep on his side, so I will try to pillows,
(which I suggested last night and he didn't want).

Thanks
Karen

The best thing I did was keep the jock on day and night. As someone
else said, take it off only to shower and put a clean one on. I wore
mine for close to 2 weeks before I felt comfortable without it. I
didn't have any trouble sleeping. I guess it just keeps everything "in
place". Hope this helps.

I did the pillow between the legs trick and slept on my side. I didnt
have a jock strap but wore tight briefs day and night for a couple of
weeks [until one morning i realised that the pain had gone!].
