Sorry Lotte, guess at the time you came there was so much else going on and
all....didn't mean it as a slight or anything. It just seems like many of
us could use some rest and recreation back in good old Nutville after all
we've been through lately! By the way, forgot to mention sometimes we refer
to 'Nutville' also as 'Fuck You, Michigan.' If I remember correctly a few
people weren't too wild about the name 'Nutville' (it's all in jest anyway).
So was born Fuck You, Michigan as an alternate name for Nutville for those
who choose........no other reason for this name than it makes Kat smile and
laugh out loud.........which in Nutville is reason enough. Anything that
can lighten our mood a bit or make us laugh is very much welcomed here. We
have plenty of things that hurt us, make us cry, make us want to
scream........so when we can find things to offset that, make us smile and
laugh we grasp them. For any newbies, we tackle anything that comes our way
here.....all kinds of awful shit.....but sometimes we just feel a need to
'lighten up' a bit and try to have some fun. That's when we go back to
Nutville.

tiny dancer

p.s. Opps, almost forgot, in Nutville you can 'be' anything you want to be!
If it's a portrait painter, great! We'll sit you out on the sidewalk and
you can earn a few dollars painting our visitors. We live very
simply....but do need a bit of an income for taxes and such.

No offense but Nutville sounds claustrophobic.

Hi Kat!

Actually, I was more worried about paying the on-going property taxes than
the initial expense. I figure unimproved land might be going for $400 to
$600 per acre in the UP or northern mitt of MI. We might be able to
scrounge together enough money for the initial investment, but it is the
on-going expenses that would kill our bankbooks. :/

Does Shannon have a plan to meet annual expenses once we are ensconced?

Smile and there will be something to smile about!

Taxes aren't too bad up there and that's what our little talents are for,
remember?? Kat's hubby and Rick are going to hook up some snow plows and
take outside jobs plowing. Lots and lots of snow to plow up there! :-)
That's a job that runs about 10 months a year in that neck of the woods, 'eh
Kat?? And of course we'll have your Hosta's and all the art work, we seem
to have lots of artist's. And all those visitors to try and catch a glimpse
of our own private sasquatch! I think we'd do just fine, besides, who the
hell in their right mind would want to serve any kind of 'notice for
payment' to a place called 'Nutville' with all of us there?? I mean,
'c'mon......would you enter a place called 'Nutville?' With all the big
hairy looking guys we appear to have in this group??
No way!

That's prime vacation property. It's way expensive unless you're way, way out
in the boonies, in which case you're looking at problems like septic and
well-water hookups for how many people? Not to mention that we'll be paying
through the nose for very slow internet connection (if we can get a local ISP
at all) and no TV unless we have satellite.

Land's cheap, not completely out in the boonies....I know quite a few people
up there, satellite is a big yes, and all my friends have computer
hook-ups.....besides who needs high speed when we already have each other
right there to chat with??? I didn't know we had lots of big hairy
gals......but if so you're welcome to 'look threatening' at anybody comin
round! :-) Forgot to mention, me and Kat will be sittin in our rocking
chairs right at the gate with a wine bottle between us, all our big dogs
around, and we'll each have our shot guns across our laps, right there along
with Rudy. Ya think we'll have enough things to deter strangers??

Me too, I think a trip to Nutville is a bit overdue considering what we've
all been through lately! And no Kat, I didn't forget we said you could have
horses and was it mules or donkeys?? Whatever, just as long as they get
along with my ducks! :-) And I thought we were having a few goats too,
weren't we?? There's another money making scheme, goat milk, and perhaps we
could make up those two piss poor snow plow months in the summer by renting
out the goats to "eat people's weeds or grass" whatever it is that goats do.

Sorry if you are triggered by guns, will try to remember to add a trigger
warning to posts. If I remember correctly quite a few of 'us' own them and
for some of us they are the exact opposite of 'triggers.' We consider them
to be protection against someone being able to hurt us again.

Great idea Tiny!
Alternative, user friendly (as long as you don't have anything goat-edible
that's valuable close by, such as family diamonds, your life-long novel, the
paintings you've saved up for your big expo etc) lawn mower for free, as
well as fertilizer in the bargain! I mean, they're inventing some lawn
mowers working on sun cells...but hey, they cost 3000 dollars! These eat
grass, and fertilize in the meantime: Great concept! And, we could make
money on fine "Chevreau" (goat) cheese as a biproduct -or should we say
"side- effect"?

Well the way it's talked about, it seems like a pretty exclusive parade.
I wasn't triggered by the guns except thinking sitting on the porch with the
shotguns across your laps wouldn't exactly go over well with locals.
Unfortunutly the officials seem to stick their nose in this issue quite deeply
as they ignore our national security. That's what triggered me.

I think it depends upon the state or area one lives in. I see pick up
trucks with guns in racks all the time. And in our state anyone passing a
test can get a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Geez........Nutville was
a whole lot more "fun" last time we all went there......this is getting a
bit ridiculous.

After a discussion on 60 Minutes (a national news feature tv show here) I
believed that you are describing the Finns, not the Swedes :)

Anyway, money (or threatened lack of money, to be exact) is a major trigger
for me. Always need to have the backup of some 'go to hell' money in close
proximity. Living on the edge, financially, takes me back to where I don't

Nancy,

That's why we'd have a HUGE garden, and raise our own chickens, cows, pigs,
etc. Remember? : )

kat

p.s. I don't know how, but I'd be willing to learn how to can, as long as
everyone pitches in, and one person doesn't get stuck with canning for the
whole group. Man, that would be a project now, wouldn't it? The amish
around our area do pretty well. And they don't have "outside" jobs. I like
quilting (used to do that), and handmade quilts are usually a hot-selling
item. And with all our creative minds, I bet we could come up with some
wing-ding quilts! *laughing*

Thank you Kat,

I was beginning to go 'NUTS' here with everybody 'raining on our parade!'
Nutville is supposed to be a happy, peaceful, fun place......geez.......we
might as well stay right where we are if we aren't going to 'lighten up' and
have a bit of fun when we can. Remember last time, how great it 'felt' to
spend a little time there?? How much it made you laugh and smile?? I
remember sitting up late one night when you said 'tiny, tell me more about
Nutville.' I am glad you're here and having a couple 'ROTFLMAO's once
again. I really 'needed' a friend who also loves Nutville!

Love,

Hi Tiny!

Yes, I remember. Nutville is one of my favorite places to dream of when
things are hard "here". : )

My computer was majorly messed up, guess I got a virus or something. But
anyway, a friend of ours came down last night and worked on it for quite a
while to get everything back to snuff. Or else I would have been on here
last night as well.

Kat,

It's so good to see you back, besides everything else this begins the 'week
of the dogs!' Monty is driving me absolutely NUTS already. She's such a
sweetie, cutest face you'd ever want to look into......but a HELLION all the
same. I haven't slept all night. She and Whiskey were tearing around the
house all night long......was contemplating giving them each a xanax! At
3:00 a.m. they were both sitting on my bed, Whiskey gnawing on a tennis ball
and Monty barking at her cause she wanted it. From then it only got worse,
or maybe I just got more and more tired. All three are out in the back yard
now 'enjoying' the sun! Poor Murphy is exhausted too, and hubby is supposed
to be working on the bathroom, I really need my 'johnny' back once again. I
can wait on the shower.......but I need 'my johnny!' Oh god, I hear a big
saw shaking the whole house........sure hope he's had enough rest and
doesn't 'saw' the wrong board and fall through to the basement!

Love,

Believe me, I am not laughing. I used to be able to balance a checkbook, do
bookkeeping manually, all that stuff. I even got an MBA in accounting!
Then ... well, we all know the rest of the story. :/

Anyway, the only way to balance a checkbook is to use Quicken IME. Older
versions are just as good as current ones, so long as they are appropriate
to your OS, IMO; I only upgrade every 3 years or so. Once I set the program
up, it did the work ... and still keeps me from spending more than is in my
checkbook!

And, I don't really have to pay attention or focus half as hard as I was
able to when I did it all manually.

YMMV

Okay Lotte, any and all help is greatly appreciated. We certainly don't
'need protection' from anybody 'inside' Nutville. The shotguns are to
protect us from any bad guys trying to 'come into Nutville' and hurt us.
Hopefully the big dogs and the big hairy guys (& gals) will deter them
before the shotguns are even needed! :-) I know some of us who've been
overpowered and hurt in the past 'feel' better thinking no one will ever be
able to do that to us again. We may not be as strong as them but at least
we have some means of protecting ourselves now.

Hi, while reading this thread it became apparent you didn't see our
'Crouching Trauma - Hidden Stressor' episode describing 'Nutville'.

I seem to remember someone (Tiny, Kat, ???) mentioning the place before
it was incorporated into one of these weekly productions, but I can't
remember who, what, where, or when...um, maybe it's a PTSD symptom.:-)

Anyway, here's that old episode...enjoy.:-)

2001-07-14 12:15:19 PST
Crouching Trauma - Hidden Stressor
Directed by Han Mi Dat
subtitles and translations by Sum Dum Fuk

Starring:
Rudolph as Kynda Dum Guy
Tiny as Wok Yer Dog
Helski as Yu Kan Tu
Cherri as Ice C(ream) - resident rapper
Kat as Kik dat Cao
Nancy as Kuk sum Stew
Kris as ?Sok Rho Te (s)
Leah as Won Tu III
Janna as Go Wat Wei
John De as Lobo Perro
Hannah as Hiya Han Nah
Rick as Riki Tu Yu
Brovet as Rex the Wonder Dog
Larry     as Mr. Rhee

Last week our heroes tried in vain to find a new therapist. Traveling as
a pack, with Rex the Wonder Dog and Lobo Perro sniffing the way, they
neared a hollow shrouded in a butterscotch colored fog. As the group
became enveloped by the mist, rythmic sounds wafted from just around the
bend. Yu Kan Tu was the first to comment.

Yu: Hey, listen everybody, it sounds like there's a kareoke place
nearby, can the rest of you hear that music?

Sok Ro Tes: Yeah, I hear it too, mmm, doesn't this fog remind ya of
aroma therapy, smells like jasmine, nice huh? Kuk Sum Stew: Look at all
the Hostas, this place looks like somewhere familiar, doesn't it?

Each steped further into the fog and noticed without comment how relaxed
they felt. Wok Yer Dog and Kik Dat Cao smiled as long tensed muscles
twitched and released, leaving them without body tension for the first
time in years. Go Wat Wei and Won Tu III suddenly stopped short...

Go: What is this place, Heaven? Won: Heyah, the air is so sweet and
everything's so pretty...we must be in Heaven.

Kynda Dum Guy and Mr. Rhee looked at each other.

Mr. Rhee: Are you thinkin' what I'm thinkin'? Kynda: You mean the old
saying, "You never hear the bullet with your name on it?"

Mr. Rhee: Yep, we must have made a transition back there. Just then Hiya
Han Nah started groovin' to the sounds of the music. Hiya: No guys,
we're not goners, we've just arrived. This place seems magical, but it's
real, at least I feel like it's real, listen....

As our heroes trod further down the path they came upon a beautiful
field dabbled with wild flowers, musical beats punctuated their every
step and soon the whole group was moving to the sound and bustin' into
dance moves. Then a vision of a woman wearing a tiara appeared before
them, dressed in a flowing gown, she spoke...

Ice C(ream): Welcome my friends I've been waiting for you, Get real
comfortable take off your shoes, Your journey's ended and you don't need
no pills, In this magical land we call Nutville.

Riki: My back feels great!!! Got any heavy lifting y'all need done?
Dayum, I haven't felt this good in who knows how long. I call it a
miracle is all.

Ice C(ream): It's no miracle that you feel good, There's no cares or
worries in this hood, Nutville's the place for all PTSD folk,
This place is real and it ain't no joke.

We all need a place where we can go,
Away from the bustle with a pace that's slow, A place of caring and a
chance to be free, Without depression or anxiety.

There are therapists here who understand, Been there, done that, they'll
hold your hand, Everyone here is just like you,
You gotta admit that's pretty new.

Nutville's a place that's hard to find,
But you've made it here without losin' your mind, So relax my friends
and stay a spell,
This ain't Heaven but it sure ain't Hell.

Rex the Wonder Dog looked around and knew his people were in good hands.
He wanted to stay, too, but knew he had things to do so he barked a
farewell wagged his tail and split.
The group called after him to come back, but Ice C(ream) soothed their
concern.

Ice C(ream): He'll be okay don't worry about him, He's got things to do
we'll see him again, His journey's long and it won't be a lark, But
he'll get good care at Menlo Park.

Next Week: The saga continues...
