Same to you, Fay! Enjoy!

Speaking of the Great White North, our ceilings are now freshly painted.
The color is called "Polar Bear."
Save me some Easter back bacon. ;-)

What brand paint did you use? I like Benji Moore, I think it's worth
it's extra price. I need to do my bedroom ceiling also, just can't
reach well enough easily, so will need a friend to help. I'm also
looking at a tea rose color for the walls.
Tonight I re-arranged my second bedroom (office) and it looks
completely different! A slipcover on the loveseat and a new area rug
make a world of difference! Getting a barrister bookcase to an
opposite wall was not fun, however, until I put a towel under it to
help it slide.
By the way, what on earth is "back Bacon"? Do I even *want* to know?!
happy Easter bunnies!

We opted not for Benjamin Moore, but Behr, which is still good quality
paint. I couldn't behr buying Benjamin. ;-)
If you are having trouble reaching, get an extention pole for the paint
roller. Tea rose sounds wonderful for the walls. Just be careful about not
going too dark. (You are probably better at colors than I am, though.)
You are not going to believe the color scheme, Jo. I let myself get talked
into some risky stuff. If my brother comes back for another job interview,
I may need him to repaint. The colors are growing on me, though.
Here's how you can see the all: Go to http://www.behr.com/behrx/workbook/
and select "Color Name/Number." Grab hold of your computer chair arm rests
and enjoy the silly color names: The kitchen is "marmalade." The dining
room is "dancing butterfly." The living room and hallway stair walls are
"water sprout." Our bedroom is "distant windchime" and bathroom is
"blooming aster." The main bathroom is "hosta flower." The ceilings and
trim are all "polar bear," in semi-gloss and flat, respectively. The boys'
rooms didn't get done, which is fine by them. (This just in: I looked up
"polar bear," and that's NOT what it looks like. The white we have is as
white as outside the search box on the web page. A dazzling white.
Everything is now pastel. I come up the stairs, turn the corner, and BLAM!
No more "aging white" (and don't bother looking it up. heh!) Still trying
to get used to it. I live in a pack of Starbursts. ;-)
Not to worry. Next is the flooring. I was at Home Depot looking at the
laminates, and they are as expensive as hardwood floors! Anyone: any
reason why we should choose a laminate instead of hardwood? Stairs and
downstairs will be carpeting. Bathrooms will be retiled.
Wood/laminate coloring? I am leaning toward a light oak, which I picture as
darker than a blonde spruce. How is it looking so far? As I may or may not
have posted, we are going for a dual theme: Native North/South American,
and musical: specifically, "things stringed."

Now that's thinking. Are your hardwood floors treated in any sort of way
(I'm talking polyeurethane)?

Back bacon is wonderful, especially when cooked outside.

Seen any wabbits awound hewe?

My husband just put laminate in my dining/kitchen/laundry rooms. The
laundry room because it comes off the kitchen and i thought it would look
more open to have it all the same, even though the laundry room door is
usually shut.
Hardwood vs. laminate, we were told laminate doesn't scratch as easy because
of the thicker finish. We ordered ours from a carpet store, the brand name
is Mohawk. Can't remember the color name but it is a light to med brown.
The wood really varies with lighter/darker shades which i really liked.
The best thing i then did was buy a wet vac from Bissell called "Flip It".
Makes the upkeep on the hardwood a breeze.
Good luck on your remodel, pablo. At least you have themes! My house is a
hodge podge of things that i happen to see and like. :)
TC,
Jodi
Yes, I was amazed at the variety of laminates. Practically any kind of
"wood" you want. I was surprised that it's almost as expensive as hardwood
flooring. Not sure what we'll do yet. Carpeting for the bedrooms, though.

Well, we're sort of feeling our way through this. There are two basic
themes: Native American and what I call "things stringed." All sorts of
stringed musical instruments, on stands, on the walls. Things like:

http://www.civilization.ca/arts/opus/images/opus42b.jpg
Nt sure how long it will take, where we'll end up, or when we'll know we're
done. Hopefully, it's not when we run out of money. ;-)
Pablo
Cool instruments! I didn't get to look up your color schemes, though.
Can you send the color links again please?
Jo
Yep, here's the original paragraph:

Thanks! Will check them out!

Wow, very pastel! Do you feel like you live in a day care center? Just
kidding. Pretty colors, though.
jo
ROFL! It's like a Starburst factory in here. Just remember: I am not in
charge. ;-)
