After-Concert tinnitus, 5 weeks out, still temporary?

I went to my first heavy metal concert 5 weeks ago, extremely loud
music for about 2 hours. I came out with the typical after-concert
dulled hearing and ring. After 3 days my hearing was back to normal,
and the ringing was reduced. But a slight but noticable high-pitch
ringing remained. I went to a ENT and audiologist at week 3, they told
me it was common, it could go away in a few weeks, and even had cases
where it took up to 6 months, and rarely, in some cases, it never went
away. I got a second opinion from an ENT and he told me 99% chance to
go away.
So here I am, 5 weeks after the concert, with a slightly annoying
high pitched ring, I can not even hear it when distracted by so mucha
as even a public enviornment. But at home it really bothers me, it
seems to be mainly in my left ear.
Is there ANY chance this is still temporary?

Hi Uraniumfly. Great name : )
What you are describing above is not good.
Haven't your ENT and audiologist described to you what
the "typical dulled hearing and ringing" means?
This is severe trauma to your hearing system.
Even though your hearing seems to come back to what you are
used to you are causing damage which is irreversable and
accumulative.
I experienced this type of trauma with loud music, like you,
a few years ago and now I have hearing loss in the upper ranges.
I also have severe tinnitus.

Your ears are trying to tell you something.....
and you really should listen to ... your ears : )

I totally understand this, and believe me, i am thinking about never
going to a concert again, and this was my first concert. What I was
asking is if it is possible that this ringing can still go away, even
after 5 weeks. Is there any chance my ears will be back to normal or
did I preety much screw myself over for life with ONE concert?

But, don't listen to this sadistic troll!

Geez, High Flight is the world's leading decibelphobe, and even he's willing
to admit that one show probably isn't going to mess you up for life.

Your doc has no reason to mislead you. Listen to him and ignore us loons on
AST. Check back in 2004, if this whole episode isn't just a horrible memory
by then.

Good Luck!

Sorry, I some how missed that it was after just ONE concert.
I think it was the "typical after-concert dulled hearing and ringing"
wording that I latched onto and made me think this was something
typically and frequently experienced by you.
I totally agree with the others that you shouldn't worry about
the one time. When I go to concerts these days I bring earplugs
and position myself away from the speakers. My days of assaulting
my hearing are behind me.
There's a great chance that the ringing will just leave you.
Just pay it no mind and let it drift away and best of luck.
