At work they bought me a new chair, a Steelcase Criterion Plus. It's an
oversize chair and I think it has extended height adjustments, oversize
backrest, and adjustable height arm rests. It's build big and tough and
could hold a large person as well as someone tall. I have no idea what it
cost.
Although I had the thought the other night about what if I engineered my
desk such that I sat on my butt on the floor, or maybe had a beanbag chair
or pillow to sit on as an alternative, maybe I'd be better off.

They have a website, but are expensive. If you're interested, I can
try to find out where I mail ordered it from.

I use the Herman Miller Aeron chair (large size) also. I'm 6'8" and about
260lbs and it works great for me!

Sometimes we have to wonder. :-) I'd definitely want something in which
the top half of my leg could be horizontal, with the rest vertical
and my feet touching the floor. I finally realized that some of the meeting
room chairs at work bug me because my leg is not horizontal, which creates
a force that wants to tip the chair backwards on me, and the spring isn't
strong enough to prevent me from leaning back because of this combination.
So I'm constantly leaning back in them, which I don't want (I want to be
upright), or have to lean on my arms on the table. I most definitely do
not want my legs out in front of me (as would be the case sitting on the
floor) - too uncomfortable.

I found wonderful custom chair maker. 911 service desks and computer programmers use
the chairs lots.
These chairs are designed for the individual's size/height and/or weight plus can
have special options for functionality, e.g., adjustable height arms, different arm
sizes (width and length arms), no arms, lumbar supports, longer seat posts, wider
seats and backs, diffenent numbers of wheels, etcetera. The chairs have different
type covers and such also. Check their big and tall section. Sitting in the chair
was like sitting on a cloud.

DO3 Systems are their chairs. Their website will give a good idea of the options.
A contact at the company, I spoke with Domenic Federico.
Take care.
