I hereby make a pledge to all in AS3 to train every day at least 30
minute with a view to getting rid of the weight I gained during my
quit.

I'm with you too - I gained weight just from looking at food for the
past month :)

ermmmm and eating it as well!

Good on you Chris.

Do you have someone close to you in your offline life to hold you
accountable to that aim? That would help.

A food diary would be brilliant too. I'm of the belief that most of our
weight gain comes from 'unconscious eating' - eating without paying close
attention to what we're eating, how much, or even the fact that we're
eating.

All the best. We're with you.

Cheers
Dave

Chris, I lost 30 pounds last year (2009) by falling down and breaking
my wrist in 3 places. I had a splint on my arm that kept my elbow
rigid so I couldn't lift a fork to my mouth with my right hand. So
eating was difficult as well as cooking. I do not recommend this as a
weight loss measure. Only as an observation. But now I am determined
not to gain it back again. That might be more difficult than losing
it was.

Also, I have eliminated certain things from my life: most sweets
(except for tiny bits of chocolate), any kind of alcohol, no beer, no
wine, no hard stuff. Fortunately I love apples; I really do eat an
apple every day. And I use small plates and bowls. No heaping
portions of anything. This may not work for everyone, but it sure
worked for me. Some years ago, I tried keeping a food diary that I
found on the internet, including daily forms to fill out with the
amounts and the calorie counts for everything I ate. That got to be
very boring very quickly.

I wish I could do the kind of strenuous exercise that I used to do,
including weight training and lots of walking. Not possible anymore.

It's nice to be able to wear clothing that I had stuffed into the back
of my closet and almost forgotten about.
