Haven't posted in a while, but I have been smober. :-) Survived both
a trip to Paris (where _everyone_ smokes, it seems) and x-mas and new-
year celebrations. This is my best quit ever. So much easier than my
earlier quits. After the first month, it really became much better.

Wish I knew that when I used many many months deciding on a quit date
(that one has a way of never really being the right time, right?).
So, if you're contemplating a new quit, do not think it will
necessarily be as bad as the earlier ones.

Anyways. Happy new year everyone!

Smober for 0 years 6 weeks 5 days 21 hours (47.9 days), 958 cigarettes
not smoked

Practice makes perfect.

Imagine all those millions upon millions of smokers who want to
quit (70% of them) but keep putting it off year after year.

For many it will be too late.

Yes. Here in Norway, there were some statements in the campaigns to
make people quit, saying something like "the more times you've tried
to stop smoking, the higher the chance that you will succeed". I used
to make fun of that statement, saying it was a very complicated way of
saying "quitting is hard, you will probably not succeed". But it
really is true that quitting is something you have to learn
empirically -- and at some basic subconscious level I guess.

Sigh. Yes. Let's hope they come here.

Nice to see you still quit and enjoying yourself! You might want to keep
your guard up just the same. Overconfidence has ruined many a good quit.

Glad to read your posting, Phlebas, and glad to read that your quit is
going well so far. Do continue to read and post as it really does
help you to own your quit!
