Good morning, all!
I have been reading this morning while the house is still quiet and
just wanted to say that this does get easier with time. I'm not nearly
over the initial hump yet, I'm still doing 150 of Zyban and first step
patches, but I AM feeling much more relaxed and much less homicidal.
Last night, I even got some serious work done and finished a part of a
mural that I had put on hold when I quit smoking! A lot of detail and I
usually have a cig sitting in the ashtray while I work. But not this
time. And you know, I waste a lot less time painting, because I'm not
stopping to smoke, light up, put it out, scrambling around looking for
the lit cigarette that I just dropped when I wasn't looking where I was
putting it, looking for the pack under rags, brushes, etc., looking for
the lighter under same, stopping to run to the store to throw my money
away to buy some more. I thank the powers that be every day for giving
me the stregth to do this, day by day, with y'all's help. To all that
have just started to quit, take heart!! It gets so much easier the
longer you do this! And you will be amazed and really thankful you did
it!

Am also a muralist, on zyban & patch!
One month of having one cigarette every few days or an occaisional chain of
them on a particular evening binge - like new years. . . Am now on 3rd day of
truly not smoking with no intention of smoking again.I have tried to get on the
Quitnet site where evidently those milestones of days, hours, money saved, life
saved is calculated for you, but the registration page was not available. Is
that where you got your info?
Want to be mirror buddies for this process, either through this site or direct
email? (For what its worth - am 43 yr female sculptor single mom of 10 yr old
girl)

support for your quit.
Hope this helps....Maggie

Well, Lisa, this is encouraging! I'm a pastel artist, and quit now for 3+
weeks, but I've been afraid to paint! I haven't stood in front of my easel
since before Christmas. Your post is inspiring me to face down the
triggers. I am getting really bored not painting....I'll try this week.

Glad you are going strong and keeping quit! Congrats on your two weeks!

Hey, Suze!
I know what you mean about that fear factor, I swallowed hard a couple
of times before I picked up that brush! Try it when you feel ready,
youmay be suprised! I actually focused on something more than 10
minutes! Do you have any of your work on-line? I like looking at other
artists' painting. I'll leave my little photosite link, it has some of
my stuff on it.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!
