Quitting was the best thing I could have done for myself. I had
picked my date to quit about the middle of December of that year and
on Christmas we found out that our daughter and son in law were going
to have a baby. So then I had another good reason to quit. She was
not born until July and by then I really didn’t even think of smoking
that much anymore. In June of that year I had stents put in both
legs, results from smoking… Well they did not work and this year I
had leg bypass surgery done. I can walk again but still have a numb
leg (which they say can take 6 months to a year to go away). I see
people smoking now and I just want to yell at them “stop before
something bad happens to you”…
My longest quit before this was about 23 months back in 1996, so I
have made it past that mark and I truly believe that this is my quit.
Doesn’t matter if it is or not it has to be if I want to keep walking
and living. And I do as my daughter and son in law are expecting
again in the spring. I want to be around to see two little girls
grow up….. They are what keep me going a lot of the time….
Thanks all for being here.
Have a safe and Happy New Year everyone!!!!!
