I've struggled with my weight since August 1996. My doctor put me on a
diabetic diet even though I'm not diabetic. For those of you who would like
to change your eating as well as become a non-smoker I am going to share
with you my diet. I wouldn't try both if you are new at quitting
cigarettes.
I cannot have: bread, potatoes, rice or pasta. Ouch on the last. Or
citrus fruit/juice. Or peanut butter.
I can have: broccoli, cauliflower (ugh), spinach, all greens, beets, meat,
eggs, cheese and other dairy products. Plus microwave popcorn!!!!
Drink 2 glasses of water with each meal and stop eating before you feel
full. Drink tons of water.
I highly recommend this diet. It isn't too drastic and for me it has been a
whole other life change. I am obese and want to lose 100 pounds. I don't
want to be short winded forever. I have lost quite a bit of weight in the 2
weeks I've been on it and I feel lighter on my feet and healthier already.
I hope this helps someone out there.
I am so happy to be smokefree and I really cannot even picture myself ever
going back down that road again.

Whoa - no carbs. How do you live without peanut butter and citrus??
You are one tuff MountainWoman.

After cutting out the carbs, this is still not a bad list of things to
eat. I am addicted to spinach, myself. The possibilities are endless
here!

Yeah, this helped me lose weight. AND no eating before bedtime. That
was a real habit for me to break. But when I did, the pounds came off
pretty quick!

Good for you, Deb.

This just reminded me of :
"I do not like broccoli. And I haven't liked it since I was a little
kid and my mother made me eat it. And I'm President of the United
States and I'm not going to eat any more broccoli."

It feels good, doesn't it, Debbie?

Yikes. I've gone the other way, but just trying to tone and trim here
and, uh, there. Small portions of bread, pasta, beans instead of one
giant meal like I used to and more Caesar's salads!

TONS of water.

Good for you. That old road is a long, nasty one while the way ahead
is clearer and cleaner and brighter. And not only is the road
different, but you are, too.

Congratulations, Debbie. I'm glad to have been able to watch your
meter grow.
Take care,

tubers, oozing blood and spore jelly, spread like
mushrooms across an unsuspecting lawn; arteries withered
like the tendrils of parched orchids; clots resembling
rotten tomatoes or the brains of diseased monkeys choked
the organism, each clot emitting faint wisps of smoke from
a combustion that would not die until the organism died.

Olive oil is fine. Chocolate is a no. Chips, sweets, all those great foods
we love:(
Good luck. It really isn't that hard of a diet. Just the junk food has to
go!
