I love your meters Mike and SteveS.
mine is just a baby meter but considering that I nearly broke that
yesterday and almost left the smoke free kick ass train I think I
should be proud that I still have a meter: (don't know for how long
but I know for today I have one)
here it is:
HappyPolar Bear proudly announces: One month, three weeks, six days,
17 hours, 49 minutes and 34 seconds. 461 cigarettes not smoked, saving
$184.91..
Count me in ... if I hadnt slipped in Aug, my meter would read 2 1/2
yrs...
but glad to be 2 weeks clean again. Here's to a long healthy quit.

Yours is perhaps the most important one of all, proving yet again that
keeping the meter going is only accomplished by not putting a cigarette
into one's mouth.
Well done, get another day.
Have you been to the doc about your BP?

~SMILES~
Here I am, Mike. I now have 12 years 1 month 1 week 4 days. When I
first arrived at AS3, all that time ago, I think I was a different
person. Still trailing the Lady Executive habits that had enabled me
to be successful in business. Sure, I missed all that, still do
sometimes. While quitting smoking was the first major change I made
after I retired, adopting Mrs. Mimi Katz was the second. I went down
to the Bide-A-Wee and checked out all the cats up for adoption. I
chose Mimi because she was not cute. She was a bit scrawny, as some
adolescent cats are. They called her a tortoiseshell domestic short
hair on her adoption papers. Well, I guess that's about it. But I
love her and I am so proud that she has never lived in a smoke-filled
home.
I still wake up around 5:00 a.m. every morning as I used to do when I
was working. It had gotten to be habit and I have never tried to
break it. Before I quit smoking the first thing I would do when I
woke up was have a cup of tea and a cigarette along with the NY
Times. I read all the newspapers and trade publications. I did
public relations for a large ad agency, so I had to know all the
reporters who wrote about the business. It was intense but fun and I
loved it. I had a sideline too, but since I don't practice that
anymore, I won't include it here. I'd like to start it up again
though, and if I do, I may announce that here. But I used to smoke
fiercely while I was practicing it before, so I don't know if I want
to risk it.
Now I spend most of my time reading and watching Netflix movies. I am
now reading one of the four gift books my son Chris gave me for
Christmas. It's called "Half Broke Horses" by Jeannette Walls. It's
an amazing book. The author calls it "A True Life Novel." In it she
seems to have channeled the life of her grandmother as a girl and a
young wife and mother in the southwest in the early 20th century.
I intend to toddle along into the next century with most of my good
habits intact and only one or two of the bad ones. Plus I have given
in to bouts of laziness. I was never lazy before; had too much to
do. But I think I spend way too much time at the computer. Not just
AS3. But all the other things that you can do with a computer.
Well, my dearies, that's my first conga of 2010. Not bad for an old
broad. Thank you all for putting up with my ramblings.

Well, it's Thursday here in Iowa :-), but here's my meter anyway:
I quit living my life around stink sticks: Five years, three months,
two days, 1 hour, 58 minutes and 38 seconds ago. 115144 cigarettes not
smoked, saving $14,393.43. Life saved: 1 year, 4 weeks, 19 hours, 20
minutes. My quit date and time is September 29, 2004 @ 3:00PM. Yes,
the figures are correct. They're based on 3 packs/day (20 stink
sticks/pack) at a cost when I quit of $7.50US for 3 packs.
Happy New Year everyone!!
