Congratulations Robin, and congratulations me.
Until now, 5 years quit seemed impossible. It staggers me. I've had a
whole year to get used the idea but I still am too stunned to think of
anything to say except, thanks to AS3 for being here because without AS3 I
would still be trying to quit for the 1000th time.
Thank you everyone. All your posts help everyone's quit, especially mine.
The secret to quitting for 5 years. Simple. Just what everyone says, One
day at a time. One hour at a time. One minute at a time. And for a long
time right after I first quit it was one second at a time. I would sit
watching my meter counting seconds, and it helped during really bad
craves.
The best advice I can give is hang in there. If I can quit, anyone can.
For the cowards, try 3 months of Chantix. Wish that was around when I quit
from what I hear.
Hugs to all,
Robin, I'll see you in the OOF tubs!!!

Five years is awesome and I am so glad to read that you are there
now. You are so right, it *is* one day at a time and doing it gives
the rest of us more courage to keep on keeping on.
Now, do sit back and enjoy as The Original Yodeling Gnomes are heading
your way along with Horace, the Huffing Hogg, to sing songs of
smobriety to help you celebrate this grand milestone!

Sorry, I guess that didn't sound right. The "coward" thing. I didn't mean
coward coward, I meant those who are afraid to quit because of fearing the
pain of withdrawal and craves.
Life is good and happy these days. I haven't told you until now that I got
married last summer to a mechanical engineer who is 7 years younger than
me. We couldn't be happiers. Funny how life goes. When you think there is
no hope somehow things turn around.
Hugs to you, sweetie. Thanks for being there for me, Robin.

And then there's those of us (who didn't use NRT or chemical aids) Edna used
to refer as "Cold Turkey Masochists".
Cowards, masochists, chicken-staplers, bite-the-bullet types... yep; we're
all represented. Hey-- whatever works, you know?
Congrats, Maggie. Well done!
Still do. :-D
But I've lightened up some. Maybe I should butch up my rhetoric again,
though. Every time I called CT'ers's suckers and masochists, the CT'er's
came out of the woodwork with all sorts of great explanations of why and
when a particular quitter would want to go CT. There's no question it's
best for some people sometimes. Like if you have recently had a failed quit
that involved a negative experience with a quit aid. Or if you're a
masochist.

PS, I knew you didn't mean coward coward. <grin> Any which way eh?

P.S. People who use Chantix are not cowards, but I don't really think that
is what Maggie meant.
