It was my understanding from friends of mine that lived in Florida
that after surgery changing of the records was not a problem. For those
living in Florida changing the name (let alone gender) on your drivers
license can be a problem depending which county you are in.
I was fortunate, and have managed to change all of my records
except birth certificate alreayd. But California is a bit different.
Best of luck Anne! :)

Hi Anne,
I am in the process of changing my name here in FL. According to the
information with which I filed the documents with the court here is how to
get you name changed on a FL Birth Certificate:
"If you were born in Florida you can have a birth certificate issued with
your new name. To do this you must send a certified copy of your final
judgement along with HRS Form 429 and the fee of $15.00 to:
Vital Statistics
P.O. Box 210
Jacksonville, FL 32231-0042
If you were born in another state you may be able to get an amended birth
certificate. For the address of the records office in your birth state
check 'Where to Write for Vital Records' published by the U.S. Deparetment
of Health and Human Services. It is probably available at your library."
I would quote the reference however I do not know what book it came out of.
I fall into the last paragraph as I was born in New York. Also I do not
have a clue as to where you would get a copy of HRS Form 429, maybe writing
them and asking for one might do it.
Good luck!
Hugs,
Patricia

I've got bad news. I was born in Miami Beach and the bigot state
STILL refuses to change my BC. A few of us are looking for ways to
sue them over it.

Of course that's just my opinion.
Anyone who doesn't agree with me is clearly wrong. :-)

They'll change the name all right, and they'll leave the "M" on
there too, even after srs, they refuse to change that part.
