I've just been to see the people here at this centre and been given
various oils, salt waters and dietary advice. I'm giving it a go and one
day's use of the skin stuff has made the patches paler and flatter and
slightly less itchy.

Has anyone else had an experience with their treatment? I'd be
interested to hear about how you did if you have tried it. Either way,
I'll let you all know if it helps. My partner is very skeptical as it's
all rather holistic/ homeopathic but then, I'll dance round a bonfire
shaking old bones (even mine!) if it works!! Anyone else had any luck?
I'm trying to come off methotrexate too so any information on that as
well would be greatly appreciated.

And 'hello' to the other new people. And yes, it is a bummer, isn't it?

Hey, what about us old people too 8)

Where is this alternative centre? Do they have a phone number? Most
importantly, how much did they charge you for all their pills n potions?

But of course! Hello to you too.

They are in West Brompton. The phone number is 0171 381 2298. They
charge £70 for the first two hour consultation. They aren't very
scientific and the skin treatment will cost about the same again.
They told me that the best way to clear up the skin was with a trip
to the Dead Sea. Second best way was with one of their £600 UVB lights
and the skin treatments are used in conjunction with both. They also go
into diet, lifestyle and some rather hazy holistic/ homeopathic stuff.
But they apparently have a good clear up rate- or so they told me.
They recommend you read their book first- available from Health Food
shops and all good bookshops... it's called Beat Psoriasis by Sandra
Gibbons which really tells you all about their approach.

I'm not recommending them, you understand. I'm giving it a try because,
well, I'll try anything really. Methotrexate doesn't seem to be
agreeing with me any more. I can't claim to have found a 'C-word'
(I wouldn't dare to use that four-letter word here) as I've only been
trying this for four days now. So far, nothing exciting to report. But
I have a sunny holiday coming up so it might improve....

Hope this answers your question Steve!

Sure does; sounds like much the same deal you can get from the centres in
Neal's Yard in Covent Garden and the alternative
restaurant/store/what-have-you on Old St just beside the Old St
Roundabout, to the north of the city. I've seen that book around; the
shortest possible paraphrase for it is a kind of smug West Coast 'aww,
pull yourself *together*!' kind of thing.

Bah. And Humbug.

Get a good tan on holiday!
