Off the top of my head I can't think of any girls who are older
than you, but there are several guys in here who are older than
you. I'm 44, fallout is about a year older than me, Dale Greer is

How does a 22 yo guy dress as opposed to a 27 year old? That's only a

I was wondering about this myself. I mean, 22 is basically
just out of college and 27 is ... basically just out of college.
You're not going to have gray hair at 27 (well, most people
aren't), you're not going to be wearing reading glasses, you're
not going to look much older (e.g. no eye wrinkles yet), etc.
But then I was generally thought to be in high school until

22 is college age. People dress differently in college than at 27,
when they're usually working adults.
So what's your problem? If you wanted to be friends with me, I wouldn't
reject you just because of your age. But you'd probably reject me for
one reason or another. Women my own age reject me because I don't look
my age, so they mistakenly believe they are too old for me. Women
younger than me reject me when they find out how old I really am.
When I was in my 30's and I went to a singles party, I met a woman who
was 54, and I was attracted to her, but she refused to have anything to
do with me because I was too young. When I was around 40 and posted an
ad in a singles magazine, and got a response, and met the woman who
responded, she took one look at me and called me a liar because I said
my true age but I looked ten years younger and she didn't believe my
true age. When I was a child, I wasn't allowed to have anything to do
with the neighbor closest to my age, 3 years younger than me, because
she was closer to my sister's age. Last year I met somebody one year
younger than me, but she refused to have anything to do with me because
she's way too old for me.

How many times have you been told to leave her alone. There was no "shine"
you made that up in your own mind.
Work out the math yourself.

Yup, that's what she claimed.

{{How many times have you been told to leave her alone. There was no

No, you're a fucking liar! Her former boyfriend told me that, then she
herself later confirmed it to me and told me more about it. Why don't
you ask that former boyfriend yourself whether he was her boyfriend and
whether he saw the shrine on her computer and whether he told me about
it? While you're at it, why don't you ask him whether he sent me those
photos of her which he had taken when they were dating, and whether he
posted some of those same photos of her on a Yahoo club under the name
"Lacey"?
Who exactly told me to leave her alone?? You, a busybody who has no
business telling me what to do regarding somebody you don't know?
Heather is the only woman who has recently said anything sweet to me in
e-mail. She seems to still have some feelings for me, and I surely do
have major feelings toward her. I still want to hold her in my arms and
comfort her, and some other stuff if it's OK with her.
It still hurts me that Heather had to be homeless for a while.
Maybe she just didn't want to make a connection with you, and used age
as an excuse. And since you spend all your time drooling over teenage
girls, she probably is too old for you.

You have no idea if that is her or her boyfriend or someone else
hoaxing you. Is she interested in meeting you? In corresponding with
you? No? Then leave her alone. She's not interested.

Doesn't seem to be, since she isn't setting up a meeting.
>

She found being homeless to be preferable to living with you.
Given she was one year younger than me, saying she was way too old for
me was really a sucky excuse. Shall we agree she's an idiot? Why don't
you telephone her and ask whether she honestly felt herself to be too
old for me, or was just making a flaky excuse?
By the way, a couple months later she tried to commit suidice and ended
up on 72-hour hold as a result. Apparently rejecting friendship with
me, and thereby being totally alone, wasn't exactly healthy for her
mind.
{{And since you spend all your time drooling over teenage girls, she
probably is too old for you.}}
I have no idea where you conceived such a stupid idea. It's totally
false. I've never drooled ever a teenage girl. Perhaps you're
projecting your own drooling on others? I have no way to know. If
you're claiming I'd reject her as being too old for my interest, that's
totally stupid because obviously I didn't reject her, she rejected me.
I thought she was nice looking, and friendly, and we had some rapport,
and so after she let me walk with her two blocks from the library to
where our paths diverged, and then she gave me her phone number, I
thought she might join me in some acquaintance that would become
friendship.
> Why don't you call her up on the telephone and ask her?
{{Because that would be harassing?}}
I don't think calling her up to ask just one question, to confirm what
I posted, would be harassing.
{{And it doesn't sound like a true story.}}
Then your idea of truth is warped. It is true and you're stupid not to
either accept it or check it out.
Regarding Heather Thompson: {{Is she interested in meeting you? In
corresponding with you?}}
I don't really know what's in her mind. She hardly ever can get online,
but did exchange e-mail with me within the past month, and she didn't
say anything nasty about me, so I think maybe she does sometimes want
to e-mail with me.
{{She found being homeless to be preferable to living with you.}}
That's what hurts so much. I think she would have been happy to be with
me, but she blew the chance. Now that she's talking sweet toward me, I
hope finally she decides to give me an in-person try before it's too late.
Hell, no, if she is smart enough not to want anything to do with YOU,
then she isn't an idiot. Probably just one of those many people who
are too polite to look you in the eye and say, "You are a creep, I
want nothing to do with you, leave me alone or I'll call the police."
>

I have relationships with people who are of an appropriate age for me.
Relationships that involve mutual attraction, not that you understand
the concept of "mutual attraction".
I have no way to know. If
> you're claiming I'd reject her as being too old for my interest, that's

She rejected you, not because of your age.

Oh, you're just so adorable and cute with your breezy, irreverent humor!
I hope you're not that insufferable in real life. Your smug satisfaction
with yourself (cute misspellings and constant use of slang, even though you
like to throw in some snobbish things from time to time) is nauseating and
not coming across with others as you probably think it is. You're posturing
so that you don't have to show the real you, which would take some guts. I
expect some flippant response, but somewhere deep down you know that I'm
right. Maybe someday you'll feel confident enough to communicate without
the facade. Or maybe I'm misreading you and you really are juvenile and
shallow. I see some potential there, but it's deeply concealed within the
cutesy, pseudo-wordly posturing-which is probably by design. Better stick
to the Mystery Science Theater for the time being. You can probably get
away with your schtick for awhile, but you're going to have to grow up
sometime. And if I'm right about you, you probably are someone who revels
in her "youth".
What it all comes down to is there any "there" there?
Hell no! She would never show her picture here. She'd rather hide behind

{{Who has had his kids removed from his home becuase he is unstable and
can't/won't care for them.}}
Not correct. I took good care of my children, protected them from their
abusive mother, protected them from becoming homeless when our
apartment complex was sold and the new owner decided to get rid of all
low-income tenants and remodel the apartments and rent them only to
high-income people. I tried to find low-income housing for us, but
nothing two or three bedrooms was available. For a month I used my
credit cards to keep the three of us in motels while I looked for a
regular place to live. Finally I started looking for one-bedrooms and
studios as a temporary place for us, and found one, but before I could
move us in, a stupid social worker made a horrible mistake, and because
I don't have the money to pay a decent lawyer, and the lawyer appointed
by the court was sleeping with the social worker, I wasn't able to get
my rights and my children's rights protected. Unless somebody has lots
of money, there's not much one can do to protect oneself and one's
children from an abusive social worker. After my children were taken
away, my son was sexually molested by three teenagers in the children's
shelter, something that never happened to either of my children when
they had been with me. I never left either of my children locked in a
room with teenagers, unattended, but Social Services did, and sure
enough my son got sexually abused by the teens. If my children had
stayed with me, they never would have been abused.
So are you going to stop posting lies about me, and post formal
retractions of the lies you already posted?
Your lawyer slept with the social worker? How are your kids doing now?

Most girls are closer to women than little children by the age of 13,

I would. By definition, Mensa is 2% of the general population. While
the average IQ of people in this group is probably higher (just being
literate raises the average IQ a little bit), it is not going to be
anywhere near +2 SDs. Most medical doctors are probably around +1.5
SDs, most lawyers a bit below that.
I don't know really. But it anyone's counting I would. I've scored

Eldorado, mickey, certainly could qualify. And of course the smartest
person in the history of Usenet, Darkfalz.

That is popular mythology with no basis in fact. The same mythology
holds that physical appearance is unimportant. The real-world evidence,
however, makes it clear that both intelligence and appearance are very
important indeed. It seems that it pleases people to deny reality in
such cases.

The SAT is no longer a valid indicator of IQ (I think this changed in
the 1990s, but I don't remember when). I'm not sure about the GRE or
GMAT; I think they still have high correlations.
> ... here are some things that people have posted.
People can post all sorts of things. As a general rule, if someone has
to _tell_ you how smart he is, he's not.
> I think any person qualified for MENSA should

You confuse intelligence with acquired knowledge; this is a common
error.

I was going by what Kitz said in one post, something about
being tested in school with an IQ in the upper 130's or low
140's. This is from memory, though, so that's why I didn't
include here with the specific claims I listed. I supposed I
could have googled a bit to find where she said this, or even
*if* she said this (it might have simply been an internet IQ
test, which I would have discounted) but I was getting tired
at this point, plus I also had some other things that I needed
to take care of. (Documents for the sale of our house, which
we finally found a buyer for within the past week, filling out
an application for the apartment my wife and I found two days
ago that we're planning to move into soon, and some things
connected with the upcoming Ph.D. Qualifying exams in my
department.)
Mark Green, maybe, although aside from his logically convoluted
posts, I don't recall his saying anything specific about himself
that would lead me to include him (except maybe planning to get
a Ph.D. in computer science at one time). But to be honest,
I forgot about him and his name didn't come up in any of the
posts I looked at.
Stephen rings a bell, but I don't recall anything about him. He
might have been someone who left (or changed identities) before
I got here a year ago. Contrary to popular belief, I have *not*
read every single post in the a.s.s. archive, although I have
read quite a few of them.

Darkfalz...Ah, yes...and here's the proof! --->

This is interesting. Many of these scores are astoundingly high -
*much* higher than what Mensa requires. In my comments below, the
standard deviation for all IQ scores is 15. With this deviation
Mensa's requirement becomes IQ 130.
> Joel (mole...@yahoo.com) -- 1410 PSAT

That corresponds to an IQ of 149 or 141 depending on whether the test
was taken before or after 1995.

The GRE scores correspond to an IQ of about 154. If that IQ score uses
an SD of 24 (which is quite common, especially in Mensa) it
corresponds perfectly with his GRE score, since 187 (SD 24) = 154 (SD
15).

Also, Gray Loser reported having almost perfect GRE scores not long
ago, which is much, much more than what Mensa requires (IQ 160, about,
or in other words at the 1 in 30 000 level - Mensa is at the 1 in 50
level).

159 or 149, depending.

This would have to be post-1995, so it corresponds to an IQ of 130 -
exactly Mensa's requirement.

Again, 149 or 141, depending.

Darkfalz has mentioned having tested his IQ in the 150s (he didn't say
what the standard deviation of the test was, though), which doesn't
surprise me; he is obviously very smart.
If anything, around here we certainly know how to take standardized tests.
Intelligence only works if it's put with a good appearance...intelligent ugly
guys don't go very far with ladies other than the ladies trying to use them to
cheat off of their tests.
> This is interesting. Many of these scores are astoundingly high -

It is more than interesting; it is wildly improbable, when you look at
the distribution of IQ. Why would alt.support.shyness attract such a
crop of super geniuses?

It's generally been my experience that guys above 3 standard
deviations in intelligence have a much higher incidence of
delayed dating success. To some extent this is also true for
girls, but in their case the effect is lessened due to their
ability to attract older guys when they're young.
And yes, I realize that (1) "high IQ implies dating problems" isn't
the same thing as (2) "dating problems implies high IQ", and it's
implication (2) (which I certainly don't believe) that would best
justify the situation here. I suspect the situation here has a lot
to due with the nature of usenet and with the generally high level
of discussion that this group has a history of (which would tend
to keep someone around who is interested in this if they happened
stumble onto this group).
Regarding implication (1), see these two posts --->

It gets in my way about as often as it proves to be helpful.
Yeah. But I don't like them Mensa crowd so I couldn't ever be bothered
about them.

Or just lazy like me to actually come up with stuff that would implicate
he's so smart.
