We all know how intimidating it can be to talk to high-school girls. I
used to be too afraid and self-conscious to even make eye contact for
more than a couple of seconds with the pretty ones. No matter how hard I
tried, I couldn't figure out how to impress them. But now, all that has
changed. I can look at any high-school girl for as long as I want without
getting nervous. I can have great conversations with them about all kinds
of subjects. In fact, I feel totally comfortable around them—because
after a quarter-century of racking my brain and studying them closely, I
finally know exactly how high-school girls like to be treated.
Take it from me, if you want a high-school girl to like you, the most
important thing you can do is listen. When a sophomore is telling me
about her favorite music, I don't go on about the time I partied
backstage with the Little River Band, or what a great song "Rosanna" is.
I've found that if I give the girl the lead in a conversation, I learn
something from her—like what she and her girlfriends are planning to do
that weekend. Then I've got an opportunity to offer them a ride there,
because if there's one thing high-school girls love, it's a guy with a
set of wheels. Especially a convertible. Most boys their age can't afford
anything nice yet, but I've got a career, and I paid cash for my '87
LeBaron. And a car like that never fails to turn a few heads around a
high-school campus.
The mall is a really great place to meet a high-school girl if you don't
have any classes with them. Girls really respond to confidence, so it's
important that when you see one you like there, you approach her
directly. Even if you're feeling shy on the inside, fake it. If you just
lurk around the store where she likes to shop, it's going to make her
uncomfortable. I learned that the hard way back in the '80s.
Just walk up to them and introduce yourself. It sounds silly, but it
works. So much is about body language, so if you stand up straight, look
them in the eyes, and take control, even the most unapproachable ones
will suddenly seem innocent and vulnerable.
High-schoolers are dying for someone to compliment them on their hair,
their makeup, their bodies. Remember, most girls at that age, no matter
how cool they try to act, are still insecure. So a little attention goes
a long way. I remember the very moment I figured that out, just before
taking a redheaded 11th-grader to see Reality Bites, I knew I had really
turned a corner.
Talking to girls is a lot less daunting once you let go of the fear of
rejection. Sometimes it doesn't matter how nice I act or how much alcohol
I buy for them and all their friends, some girls aren't into me. And
that's okay: Some people just never click. Everyone will get rejected at
some point—I just move on to the next one, and if she doesn't like me,
it's just as well, because I want to be with that special high-school
girl who likes me for me.
It's all just part of growing up.
Also, I can't stress enough how important it is to be supportive and
aware of her interests and extracurricular activities. These days, when
there's a girl I like, I won't just hang around across from the school
waiting to catch a glimpse of her. I'll go to her volleyball team
practice, or arrange to take her to her track meets, just to let her know
I'm interested. And when the time is right to ask her out, trust me: She
remembers all those times I was there for her when other guys weren't.
When you do finally score that date, you just have to stay cool and be
yourself. If you get nervous, the girl gets nervous, and then the whole
date's in trouble. Girls' interests are remarkably similar, so if you
take them to the movies or ice-skating, you're fine. If I really want to
impress a girl, I take her to the roof of this motel my buddy runs for a
little stargazing. But sometimes it's just as romantic to sit in her
parents' den. I try to get some alone time with her, but I never push it.
You have to keep in mind that high-school girls are still learning to
feel comfortable with their bodies. I just try to do what feels right and
pick up on her cues. She always lets me know when she's ready to take
things to another level.
After the date ends, I tell her I want to see her again, and then, no
matter what, I make sure I get her home by curfew. Getting a girl in
trouble with her parents is no way to win her over. And you can't see her
if she's grounded.
Most important, always remember: If at first you don't succeed, try and
try and try and try again. It will take some time, but one day, you'll
learn how to relate to high-school girls. I did.

Yes! And so would the law in my state. I'd also call him a retard.

16 is the age of consent in many states.
Zen_dog would probably say that they're all perverts. And also the
residents of Connecticut, Pennyslvania, etc.

A loser is a loser no matter what age the girl he approaches. But
everybody loves a winner -- including high school girls, who are in the
prime: their bodies are young, they are still virgins but ripe for the
picking, and their hearts still pure and capable of deep devotion.
That reminds me...maybe it's time to put aside my prejudices against
teeny-boppers and just get one already...I'll let y'all know when I
finally settle down with one!
Indeed. I never understood why it's okay for her to get fucked by
someone her age and then left with a bastard to raise, when there are
many established guys -- not all fat and balding and maladroit -- who
are very happy to marry her and raise a family with her.
The best scenario is for horny teenage guys to bang all the single
women in their late twenties, thirties, and forties who complain about
men, while the young nubile virgins are respectably married off to real
gentlemen who are ready to settle down but don't want to settle for the
single women in their late twenties, thirties, and forties who complain
about men.
(Basically, women have the pussy and it's a seller's market -- so if
they complain, they're fucking bullshitting or dumb idiots...I mean,
how could you lose in a seller's market when you've got the goods???)
> their hearts still pure and capable of deep devotion.
Basically, for you women are objects. Just say it like it is. No need
to poetic about it.

Yeah, and when she turns 35, after 4 kids, she will feel like she
missed out on life and ask for a divorce. I have seen it happened.

Really? Even in high school, I never found it particularly
intimidating.

Since when is this limited to high-school girls, or even to girls in
general, for that matter?
Everyone likes to talk and have someone listen.

If you listen to people, you find out all sorts of things about them;
sometimes things a lot more interesting than weekend plans.

Many people are insecure all their lives.

In many jurisdictions, buying alcohol for minors is illegal.

I don't understand the particular attraction of high-school girls over
most other girls. Many are pretty and some are interesting, but
that's true of many age groups, not just teenagers.

That's debatable, although some studies show that girls in their late
teens are considered more attractive physically than any other age
group overall.
> which one of us was recently a hs girl?
> old guys hanging around ~ leering = ultra & deeply-creepy.
That depends on what the "old guys" look like, and how they behave.
More than that, it depends on conditioning; in American and some other
societies, girls are conditioned to believe that older men are always
perverts, and that misconception is what makes them feed creeped, not
the actual men themselves.
In general, women find ugly guys creepy at any age, and they find
handsome guys interesting. This is true even when all other
circumstances are the same.

By that time he'll be dead or getting there fast. Maybe, to him, it
will have been worth it? It's his call to make, not yours. Besides,
feeyuling like she missed out on life and asking for a divorce is hardly
unique to women who get married young.

Ah. No doubt speaking of geezers chasing after little girls.

True, but if the girlie he's chasing after doesn't meet the
statutory age requirements of the locality, then jailarity will ensue
and said loser becomes someone's "bitch".

Load of hooey, old son. High school aged girls care about cars,
college, and occasioanlly boys the same age or slightly older than
themselves. Creepy old guys are pretty much good for a meal ticket
and that's about it. You *might* make some time with post-graduates,
as they're either scrounging money for college or slogging at some
shit job and are more interested in the meal ticket aspect.

There's nothing illegal about approaching or dating high-school girls
(in most jurisdictions).
True. Dating is not illegal, but sex with a girl under the age of
consent is illegal. In most states the age of consent is 16.

True, there's no need to get poetic about anything. Poetry
is a recreational activity. People get poetic not because
they need to, but because they enjoy it. And dudes
figured out long ago that reciting poetry often helps
chicks get in the mood to put out.
There is lots of good poetry about objects such as
stars, waterfalls, sunsets, etc. Not to mention
an object which sounds pretty cool:
"When in silks my Julia goes
Then, then methinks how sweetly flows
The liquaefaction of her clothes."

"helen," if you object to matings between people who differ
substantially in age, do you also object to matings between
people who differ substantially in other traits such as:
1. Race
2. Weight
3. Religion
4. Political views
5. Preference for particular foods
6. Neighborhood of residence
7. Ability to spell
For example, do you find it "really creepy" if an overweight
person mates with an underweight person? Or does it
only start to get creepy if one is a much worse speller?
Should people only mate with "their own kind"?

Generally, neither but the laws vary from state to state.
In the sense of species, yes. In the sense of adult vs. child, yes.
> True. Dating is not illegal, but sex with a girl under the age of

Some jurisdictions have no age of consent. Some apply special
conditions. In many jurisdictions with such laws, the laws are
routinely broken, and only a select few are prosecuted. It's all
rather complicated (and unnecessarily so).
> Is sex with a boy under the age of consent legal?
Usually not, but it is even more rarely prosecuted than sex with an
underage female.
> Also, if both the boy and the girl are under the age of
> consent, who statutorily raped whom?
Sometimes it isn't considered statutory rape in that case. It may be
a lesser offense, or it may simply be legal. If it's illegal, the law
and jurisprudence routinely assume that the male is the guilty party,
no matter what actually happened.
> Who gets prosecuted for statutory rape?
People who engage in sex illegally and have enemies.
>> Is sex with a <human> under the age of consent legal?
You're talking about sex..with minors..children..
Man, that is just wrong, who cares what is legal..
You're only making excuse(s) otherwise..
"When you do things right, people won't be

While the young women that I recently dated were past high school age
the ones that seemed to raise the most objections were competitors (ie
men their own age or older). If anything, being seen with a 19 year old
or an 18 year old seemed to enhance prospects when dealing with 20
something or 30 something women. The thirty something and forty
something women seemed to want to convince me that the 18 to 20 year
old women were too immature for me.

I disagree about your claim that the complications are
unnecessary. Non-uniformity of state laws is essential to
the concept of "states' rights" in the United States of
America. If all states had uniform laws, the situation would
be the same as if the U.S.A. had a strong central government.
Then we wouldn't have states at all, but provinces. And all
those state legislators would have to get real jobs, since
there wouldn't be a need for the labor necessary to hash
out 50 different redundant legal codes.
States themselves may be "unnecessary," but once
somebody decided to have states, then it became necessary
for the states to distinguish themselves with a bunch of
inconsistent laws.
Do you think separate nations are "necessary"?

Minors and children aren't the same thing.

Too late. That situation exists today.
But in any case, it's irrelevant to this discussion. I never said
anything about States' rights.
If states are redundant, why are there so many Delaware corporations?
> If states are redundant, why are there so many Delaware corporations?
Corporate law in Delaware is extremely favorable to business, from
what I understand, so many corporations incorporate there.
I think that having different states allows state governments to try
different things, some of which may be more successful than others. If
we had a more centralized government, there would be less diversity &
experimentation, which would be a bad thing.

> Oh, this must be the PEDOPHILE thread.
No, a pedophile thread would discuss sex with prepubescent children;
the discussion here concerns girls in high school (and thus well past
puberty).
Not necessarily... I know of a 19 yo boy who is dating a 16 1/2 yo
girl. It's a nice, normal teenage relationship. But, any time the
girl's mom gets mad at her she threatens to call the cops on her bf.

I can't imagine a young attractive woman going out with an older guy
unless she has a certain fetish or wants "security".

It sounds more like an anatomical impossibility, but perhaps divinity
confers special abilities.

Now I know you're an AI program. Fo shur.

All teenagers are not the same. It would be equally delusional to
think that all 43-year-olds want teenagers, but obviously _some_ do.

Believe it or not, there are some people in the world who don't
consider age to be a deal-breaking criterion.
How do you figure? A given legal code may work well in one place,
and poorly in another place. It's far from obvious that a patchwork
of random legal codes would in any sense be better than a uniform
code. Under either system, you'd have some places where the laws
worked well, and other places where the laws did not work well.
There are some inherent advantages to uniform legal codes.
Having lots of inconsistent legal codes everywhere
makes trade and travel less efficient. It would be cheaper for
an exporter to satisfy one set of regulatory requirements, than
to have to get licensed in dozens or hundreds of jurisdictions
with different requirements. What if an inventor had to apply
for hundreds of patents with different patent offices? Few
inventors could afford all the overhead.
Is the world better off with thousands of languages? No. There
isn't much of a distinct advantage to English or Russian or
Chinese or whatever. Having lots of languages doesn't give
any one of them opportunities to be more "successful."
Some languages are more widely spoken as a result of
successful military and economic conquest in the past.
For example, the English built the world's most powerful
navy, and they colonized something like 1/4 of the world
at one time or another. A former English colony went on
to become the world's current economic power. Therefore
English is now the world's most widely spoken language,
especially in business, aviation, and other specialized
fields. The popularity of English has little to do with any
inherent properties of English. Instead it's because the
people who spoke English happened to be highly influential
around the world for several centuries.
If everybody adopted English, and all the other languages
went extinct, the world could function more efficiently. We
wouldn't need to hire all those translators. They could
instead take jobs that produce real value.
Some people say that losing languages is like losing
animal species. I disagree. I think it's more like a single
animal species losing parasites.

Can you communicate fluently using any other language than English?
Surprise me and tell me you can.
