Well, I'm awake after some benadryl induced sleep. I called out to work
like my p-doc told me to. But, I'm now trying to decide if I need to
call her back or not. She said to call back if my eyes were swelling
worse, if I had trouble breathing or if things were getting worse. I'm
not sure if they are or not. My breathing has been far worse in my
life, but I'm not sure if it's normal. It may just be psychosomatic.
My lips are horrid looking--they look like I got some bad collagen
injections. I don't know if they were that bad earlier or not. My eyes
aren't too bad, but I'm not sure they're better. The rash isn't
spreading on the rest of my body, but it's not going away as quickly as
it did last time either. Maybe I do need to take prednisone? I can't
without calling the p-doc. But, I really hate to bother her on a Sunday
if I can help it. I've already bothered her once... Of course, I know
she'd rather I call her when I need to than wait. Perhaps I should tell
her about the lips, I dunno. I really don't want to look the way I do
now at work tomorrow. I hope it's not this bad in the morning...

You should tell her about your lips. That's different from a
rash. You don't want the next step being your airway swelling
shut. I don't know that it would, but you should definitely
tell her.

She knows my mouth is full of sores, and I think she knows my lips are
swollen, but maybe not this much. I just hate calling her and bothering
her--even though I know it's her job, but it is her day off. I will
probably be calling her now, and then taking more benadryl (and
prednisone if she says to).

Good luck with it!

I had my lips and face swell up after taking an antibiotic. I
took lots of benedryl and slowly recovered. They told me never
to take anything in the same class again. Pretty scary, people
though my pacifistic boyfriend had beaten me to a pulp.

Hey there. I did call her and she told me I had to go to the E.R. So, I
spent a few hours there. I didn't take any benadryl before going--so I
could drive, and by the time I got into a room (It was VERY busy) I was
red all over and VERY itchy, as the benadryl had definitely worn off.

They gave me I.V. benadryl, and some Pepcid by I.V. (apparently it works
for itching and stuff too--not just stomach issues), and some I.V.
steroids. The doc just told me I may need extra insulin for a few days.

I just got home, and am going to sleep for a while now. I have to take
benadryl every 6hrs for a couple of days, until the lamictal is out of
my system. I called my p-doc as soon as I got back (she told me to) and
I'll call her office in the morning as well.

I'm off to sleep until my alarm goes off to tell me it's time for more
benadryl. Hope you are managing to hang in there.

Thanks. My lips are looking MUCH better. They still look awful, but
they are far less swollen than they were. I'm up briefly between
benadryl doses. Just took my first dose after the I.V. dose and will
likely be asleep soon. I also decided eating something would be a good
idea, since I realized I ate nothing yesterday. It is kinda painful to
eat, with the mouth sores, but not as bad as I expected.

I have to be at work by 6am tomorrow, but I can't stay. I got home from
the E.R. well after the store was closed (we close early on Sundays), so
no one was there for me to call and say "I can't come in". When I
called out yesterday I said I planned to be in today, unless I called
and said otherwise. I may be the only manager in at 6am, not sure. If
so, I have to be there to let the morning crew in, and let the night
shift at the petshotel go home.

So, I'll go in, and do my Monday morning paperwork, and then come home
before I take more benadryl. I realize, I've got to take care of
myself, and going to work for a full day is NOT doing that. I know my
p-doc would prefer that I not go in at all today, but she realizes that
might not be possible, so I think we have a good compromise. I'll still
be on benadryl tomorrow, but hopefully I'll be used enough to it that I
can function--just slower. By the end of tomorrow I'm done with it, and
will hopefully be mostly back to normal. I'm sure I'll still have the
mouth sores, but that will hopefully be all, and I do hope they will
heal up quickly as well.

I hope you are managing alright tonight. Since It's quite late here, and
an hour later for you, I hope that you are asleep and don't read this
until the morning. Stay as safe as possible, and maybe you can get a
crisis eval tomorrow.. (Or at this point later today really).
