I am just watching Star Trek Next Generation wit cpt. Picard starred by Mr. Patrick Stewart.
The episode about Prof. Moriarty, a holodeck character, becomes self-aware and capable for self-preservation of body's integrity outside of the simulated universe.

Thinking like this made all these conjectures about the AI becominge self-aware (the "singularity event"), and whether it will immediately start to plan to annihilate human race like in the Terminator franchise.

This was the intro. Now my expose.

My studying of the Holy Bible, the Bhagavad Gita and talks with the actual living gurus have convinced me to a certain degree that it may be impossible. While accumulating stellar gas to a certain mass can trigger fusion and give birth to a new star, it seems that life emanates only from life, mind from a mind, spirit from a spirit and consciousness from previously existing consciousness.

It doesn't seem that accumulating random numbers to a degree will produce information, accumulating information beyond certain capacity may induce knowledge, and all the knowledge and data in the world wouldn't amount to wisdom.

For instance, our civilization has a great deal of data, knowledge and technological breakthroughs, but it somehow fails at basics: preserving the Nature, feeding the hungry, providing potable water to those who are without it, stopping pointless conflicts that arise from greed, lust for power or blind hatred and preserving peace.

As such, we might be only a bright spark in the history just like the legend of Atlantis.

Our technology is not harmonic, it doesn't fit into Nature in a seamless way, but is mostly disrupting it and destroying it.

This is what Wisdom would have never done. While the Internet, social media and smartphone devices are essentially good inventions, they require ethics of use or they have the potential to destroy you.

But it is also with bare necessities as food and drinks. If you eat too much or feast on the wrong foods, you will eventually grow overweight, develop coronary diseases and risk premature death.

It takes self-control that is not inherent, it has to be exercised willfully, for most people tend to overeat and become overweight or even obese ("the most" is the above 50% of Americans and Germans, for example).

It may be the result of trying to feed the emotional or spiritual hunger with the things or consumption of foods that quickly stimulate dopamine. This is done deliberately, conceived, because of the greed for profit.

But most of money earned that way can't really buy anything and it is nothing more than a score on some computer, it doesn't really exist or it was never printed in the first place.

That money, if use is attempted, without work will only create misery and sickness, because no good karma is associated with it.

This is due to the fruit of the cursed tree: we now know both good and evil like gods, but have no power to control them.

One of the mechanisms in the Scriptures to alleviate this is tithing, giving to charities and donating. 2.5%, 10% or up to 50% of gain should be used to support the poor and the needy, and to allow for the spiritual growth of mankind.

Mind over matter. Cognito ergo sum.

How many people can claim that if they are actually controlled by matter and the desire to gather exquisite amounts of it?

For example, I have started using this tablet to write an article emphasizing the need to return to the spirituality and to the Father of spirits, the Creator.

Without drinking fresh water, the body runs dehydrated and eventually poisons itself by the by-products of metabolism. We need constant circulation of water and blood to stay healthy.

The same with our mind and spirit. While we should "count our blessings", eating and drinking and having enough material possessions shouldn't satisfy anyone, for "blessed are those who hunger in spirit, theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven".

That being said, amen!

So, to summarize, life is born from life, mind from mind and spirit from the spirit. I doubt the AI can ever become self-aware without the interference of mind or spirit. Simulated neural networks do not create mind, just as the biological ones do not. Mind and spirit are more than the brain and matter by definition.

While mind drugs may correct brain chemistry, they are powerless to give life a meaning and purpose, for that doesn't come from matter but from mind and spirit.

In Christ Jesus
Amen

If the holodeck's were real ppl would be having sex with 7 of 9 and that chick who dumped Nelix.)

The first two movies were great. The third lame "old but not obsolete." https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/how-many-terminator-movies-are-there/ there are 6 movies in the franchise to my surprise.

Okay all true but the population of the planet is a record 7.4 billion and lifespans are the longest in over 2,000 years. While we still have ppl dying of malnutrition and starvation we also have TV shows devoted to young 600 pound blobs of fat. I saw some guy maybe 25 maybe it was a girl had decent sized boobs and took a bus 4 blocks with its groceries. Obesity in the world is at an all time high. One persons pointless conflict is another's meaningful and just battle. An old saying or cliche is power abhors a vacuum.

Atlantis nice song by Donavan but there has been Jacques Cousteau and a lot of other underwater explorers and they found no Atlantis or Lumeria.

Then why don't you invent something better or become a Luddite.

The Bible specifically says 10% I give slightly more than that. What do you give?
These are all good charities Surrey Food Bank, Union Gospel Mission New Westminster and Vancouver and Mission Possible, British Columbia Schizophrenic Society, MS Society, Quest, CNIB, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Leukemia and Lymphoma Assoc., BC Lung Association, Habitat for Humanity, The Mustard Seed and I have donated to them all.

Dear Greg,

Thank you for supporting Habitat Canada! With every generous gift, caring donors like you are helping to make the dream of owning a stable home a reality for families in need of housing.

Your support has helped us purchase building materials so that we can carry out as much construction as possible this year. Just consider what that will mean when they are put together to build a new house where a family can stand together and proudly say, “this is our home, built with strong and durable materials!”

You make that happen when you support Habitat Canada. Once again, thank you for contributing to homebuilding across Canada in this very unique way, and for offering a hand-up to families in need of safe and decent housing. You are making such an incredible difference in so many lives, and your contribution is truly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Hearn

If they are happy with that why begrudge them? So they don't go to Heaven or Paradise the Bible says few will.

A shrink I once had had a poster in her office which said pills won't make you happy. .

Have to admit that some of what you typed was interesting.

No, you could be wrong. From nervous systems emerges self-awareness,
maybe conciousness, maybe more things.
